Trombonist Marshall Gilkes
Sunday, September 24, 2023 @ 4:00pm

William Paterson University - Shea Center for Performing Arts
300 Pompton Rd, Wayne, NJ 07470

Marshall Gilkes is recognized as one of the great up-and-coming jazz trombone voices on the scene today. After receiving his early training at the University of Northern Colorado and William Paterson, and a degree from Juilliard, he has become one of the central solo voices of the Maria Schneider Orchestra and just joined the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra as one of its newest members. His trombone has been heard on the Latin jazz scene as well, with bands led by Machito, Chico O’Farrill, Tito Nieves, and many others. He continues to tour worldwide as a bandleader, arranger, and composer, and appears at numerous major festivals. His band will bring a new and much talked-about voice to the Jazz Room stage.
Each Jazz Room concert is preceded by Sittin’ In Meet-the-Artist session in Shea 101 Recital Hall one hour prior to performances. Sittin’ In is free to all ticket holders. This gives audience members the rare opportunity to meet and interact with the artist of the day in an intimate setting.
Admission: $15 General Public • $12 WP community & senior citizens • $8 Non-WP students • WP Students admitted free with ID • $5 additional charge on show day per ticket.
