Jacob's Pillow - 90 Years Young
by Bruce Chadwick - published 2022-07-14
I have never been to Pike’s Peak, the Mardi Gras in New Orleans or the Snake River. I have never been to the fabled, historic Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the Berkshires, in Massachusetts, either. This summer I made it to Jacob’s Pillow, going there to see Swing Out, an impressive, pulsating, simply dazzling dance show about the Big Band dancing of the 1930s. Yes, Benny Goodman still lives. I’m glad I got there and hope I can get there again.

Our Favorite Stories in Dance: Dracula by The Atlantic City Ballet
New Jersey Stage published its 25,000th story in December 2021. As the site approached the milestone, we posed the question on social media as how we should celebrate. One response was to highlight our favorite stories from over the years. We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres. Today we're featuring a story on dance. It is a recap of Dracula performed by The Atlantic City Ballet at Lakewood’s Strand Theater in 2018.

We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres. January 27 is Holocaust Memorial Day - the day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur. So we thought it was a good time to look at a dance feature on the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company called The Night of Broken Glass.
