(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- On June 1st, 2018, Art House Productions’ JC Fridays will be focusing on accessibility in the arts! Jersey City’s premiere quarterly arts festival features art events that take place in restaurants, galleries, stores and event spaces in almost every neighborhood of our great city. ACCESS JC FRIDAYS will showcase a variety of happenings including visual exhibitions, live music, performance acts and educational demonstrations, all showing work from artists with disabilities or offering accessible participation options. (WARREN, NJ) -- National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $80 million in grants as part of the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant to Arts Ed NJ, a coalition of all statewide stakeholders in arts education will use the $100,000 to support the expansion of the multi-year ARTS ED NOW campaign. The Art Works category is the NEA’s largest funding category and supports projects that focus on the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and/or the strengthening of communities through the arts.... (NEWARK, NJ) -- Newark Arts is one of 17 Newark nonprofit organizations to receive part of the $30 million in grants from Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) to fund capital campaigns and endowments throughout Newark’s five wards. Newark Arts received multi-year funding totaling $500,000 to strengthen its neighborhood granting program.... (STONE HARBOR, NJ) -- Ocean Galleries kicks off Memorial Day weekend with guest artist, Josef Kote, who returns to Stone Harbor for the second consecutive year, bringing with him an all new collection of his dramatic paintings, including many site-specific pieces created with the Jersey Shore collectors in mind. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Josef Kote at gallery receptions taking place from 7:00pm until 10:00pm on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27, 2018.  His exhibition, “Josef Kote – Harmony in White,” opens on Friday, May 25 and runs through Monday, May 28, with all artwork available for acquisition. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Gallery Aferro will celebrate its 15th anniversary on June 16th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm with "Come As You Are" - a benefit art auction and party at the gallery.  The night will celebrate a milestone anniversary for the proudly artist-run space. The event features an auction of hundreds of artworks by emerging and established artists, live music in four languages by Joya Angola Thompson, Nadine LaFond, and Emily Turonis, strong summer cocktails and delicious catering reflecting NJ’s magnificent demographic diversity, including a homemade artisan ice cream bar, and an array of door prizes including getaway packages. The night will also honor James Abruzzo.  Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 at the door.  Special VIP tickets with early access to artwork for sale and a VIP happy hour are also available.... Brooklyn based photographer, Rob Lundberg, will be showcasing his latest series of work titled "UNCONTAMINATED SOUND," with a special opening reception at The Bowery Electric in New York City. The event, which will take place on Wednesday, June 27 from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, chronicles his vision of the NYC Indie music scene and beyond. The Morris Museum has unveiled an exhibit of kinetic artwork, in which everything turns, rises, spins and pops. “A Cache of Kinetic Art: Curious Characters” highlights the unique art form of automata, featuring 27 works from 16 artists.
