Middletown Arts Center presents "The Decade That Rocked" Exhibit of Work by Mark Weiss

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The Middletown Arts Center is excited to reopen its gallery doors with a tribute to ‘80’s Rock and Metal music, The Decade That Rocked, an exhibition presenting the work of renowned Rock n’ Roll photographer, Mark “WEISSGUY” Weiss. Also on display is a collection of silkscreen prints created from Weiss’s iconic photographs by Steve Lacy, artist and news anchor from Fox 5 New York. The exhibition is on view now through August 15 and will celebrate Weiss’s birthday and his 40+ years of Rock n’ Roll photography with WEISSFEST 2021, three nights of exciting live entertainment events, from Thursday, June 24 to Saturday, June 26.

His work often centers the complex narratives of BIPOC communities throughout the world. We recently visited Layqua in his studio to hear the tale of this multidisciplinary storyteller.



Art House Productions Celebrates Artists with Disabilities for Virtual Access JC Fridays on June 4

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) --  Art House Productions will present “Virtual Access JC Fridays,” on Friday, June 4 at 6:00pm EST - 9:00pm EST, online via Zoom. Jersey City’s premiere quarterly arts festival will showcase a variety of happenings including visual art exhibitions, music and dance performances, art demonstrations, and studio tours from 20 participating artists and organizations. Visual Arts Center of New Jersey Hosts Online Art Auction in Support of Virtual Gala

The Newark Artist Photo Documentary Project installs a Permanent Mural

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Four Corners Public Arts has completed a new public artwork, The Newark Artists Photo Documentary Project by Colleen Gutwein O’Neal. This 42’ long photographic mural is located on the side facade of nonprofit Project for Empty Space (800 Broad St.), on Edison Pl. in the Four Corners Historic District in downtown Newark, New Jersey. 



Applications For 2021 Adirondack Chairs by 48 Blocks Atlantic City; Deadline May 14

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- 48 Blocks Atlantic City, a program of the Atlantic City Arts Foundation (ACAF), is a citywide arts & cultural celebration that includes Atlantic City’s largest mural arts program. Each year the Special Improvement Division of the CRDA supplies ACAF with a quantity of Adirondack chairs, on which artists may paint, sculpt or otherwise create.  They are currently seeking artists to paint, sculpt or otherwise create artistic Adirondack chairs,  which will be placed on public view when completed. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. All application materials must be received no later than five o’clock in the evening (5:00pm) EST on May 14, 2021 for consideration.



West Windsor Arts presents Faculty Student Show

(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- The Faculty Student Show at West Windsor Arts will celebrate the work of teaching artists and their students created in a class or workshop at WWAC during the Fall, Winter, or Spring sessions of the 2020-2021 class year.  The online exhibition will run from May 21st  to July 9th. 



NJ Students and Leaders to be Honored at the 2021 Virtual Celebration of the Governor’s Awards in Arts Education On May 22nd

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The New Jersey Governor’s Awards in Arts Education, the state’s most prestigious celebration of excellence and achievement in the arts, will be taking place virtually on May 22nd at 5:00pm. The ceremony will celebrate the winners: 98 students and 17 adult leaders who have demonstrated excellence in and dedication to arts education.
