by Shen Shellenberger, JerseyArts.com - published 2020-12-24

I took a slew of pictures when I visited the Rowan University Art Gallery recently to see “The Bacchanalian Ones.” I took close-ups. I took panoramic shots. I took pictures from several angles and perspectives. And I thought I had done a reasonably good job of capturing the spirit of the exhibition.

On the Road with Peter and Joan Takes Over Gallery Aferro's Instagram

Gallery Aferro continues their ongoing experimentation which begun 9 months ago as #GalleryAferroOnline. As an artist-run alternative space, they witnessed many artist’s lives evolve and unfold, at varying intervals, and with different kinds of intimacies. While every life is different, they imagine that many will relate to first wanting to make a change, figuring out what it could look like, and then beginning the business of living it. For creative people, deciding what kind of life you want and might be able to have can be particularly fraught. At the end of 2019, artists Peter Lester and Joan Pamboukes decided to embark on that change.
