(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) presents its landmark exhibition, Century: 100 Years of Black Art at MAM from February 9 to June 23, 2024. With over 70 works in various mediums by 59 ground breaking artists, Century is the largest and most comprehensive show of its kind at MAM, underscoring a longtime commitment since the 1940s to the curation and appreciation of artworks by Black artists. Curated by Adrienne L. Childs and nico w.okoro, Century is complemented by a fully illustrated catalogue featuring multiple essays that offer insightful explorations of the rich historical and cultural context of Black art. The exhibition has been coordinated at MAM by Chief Curator Gail Stavitsky.

(NEW YORK, NY) -- A Matter of Faith, a new play by Ian Richard Barnes, will have its world premiere beginning January 24 for a limited off-Broadway engagement. Directed by Augustus Childres, A Matter of Faith will run thru February 4 at The Chain Theatre at 312 West 36 Street. The cast of this three-person, 85 minute play, features Ava Paris Locknar, Henry Frontini and Ian Richard Barnes.

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will resume with a recital of music for solo piano and piano four-hands on Thursday, January 18 at 12:15pm. The performers are Westminster Conservatory faculty members Galina Prilutskaya and Inessa Gleyzerova Shindel. The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church (61 Nassau Street) in Princeton. It is open to the public free of charge.
(EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- To celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Paradox American Dream is offering guests a unique opportunity to save on admission if they are able to recite the closing paragraph of the renowned "I Have a Dream" speech. From Friday, January 12 to Monday, January 15 any guest that can successfully recite the closing 76-word paragraph of Dr. King's speech will receive free admission. (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Split Level Concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) in Ocean Grove has announced the full concert lineup for its third season. All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. The season lineup includes Willie Nile, John Gorka, Dan Bern, Catie Curtis and Band, Stephen Kellogg, Abbie Gardner, Heather Maloney and Band, and Kim Richey. As they have done in prior years, artists from the Asbury Park music scene will open many of the shows.

Frank Hanavan's Hoboken is wet. In his streetscapes, surfaces glisten. The canopy of foliage that hangs over the streetcorners feels saturated with moisture. Even the shadows on the sidewalk are puddle blue. Businesses have their umbrellas open. A few people do, too.
