Kean Theatre Conservatory presents "They Promised Her the Moon"

(UNION, NJ) -- Kean Theatre Conservatory presents They Promised Her the Moon from April 4-12, 2025. The play by Laurel Ollstein takes place in 1961 when the first American woman to test for space flight stepped into an isolation tank for a record-breaking nine hours, outlasting all of the men in NASA's emerging Mercury 7 program.



MPAC to Open Registration for Summer Performing Arts School programs

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Registration for Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC)'s Summer Performing Arts School programs begins on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 12:00pm. A variety of one- and two-week sessions are being offered for children from age 7-18 in June, July and August.



Lewis Center for the Arts presents Spring Dance Festival: Threshold

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Dance at Princeton University presents the Spring Dance Festival: Threshold, a dance concert (April 4-5, 2025) premiering five works and featuring seniors in the dance program. The concert will include a new group piece by senior Kate Stewart and a contemporary solo work by Adam Littman Davis; a new solo work choreographed by guest artist Tamisha A. Guy performed by senior Madison Qualls; a new solo work by faculty member Davalois Fearon performed by senior Moses Abrahamson; and a new contemporary ballet duet choreographed by guest artist Matthew Neenan performed by seniors Ethan Arrington and Paige Sherman.



Middletown Arts Center Accepting Submissions for 2025 The MAC ONE-ACTS Play-Reading Festival

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The Middletown Arts Center has issued a call for submissions to The MAC ONE-ACTS Annual Play-Reading Festival featuring original, one-act works by New Jersey playwrights. Entries from New Jersey residents ages 18 and older will be accepted and must be original, unpublished scripts adhering to standard professional play format with run-times of no longer than 30 minutes. Submission deadline is Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:59pm.

SOPAC Announces Temporary Closure of Movie Theater and Plans for Future Enhancement

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) has announced the temporary closure of its movie theater, previously operated by an independent entity leasing space within the center. This transition marks the beginning of a new chapter for SOPAC, as plans are underway to introduce a revitalized cinematic experience for the community. The previous tenant has vacated the theater space, and SOPAC is actively seeking a new operator to reimagine and relaunch the movie theater experience; however, there is currently no confirmed timeline.



Ayhan Hulagu to Bring Traditional Turkish Theater to Princeton University

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- 700-year-old traditional Turkish Theatre in America. Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, Turkish shadow theater will be showcased at Princeton University. Actor and playwright Ayhan Hulagu adapts the 700-year-old Karagöz tradition in The Forest of the Witch for American audiences.



The Ellarslie Open is Accepting Online Entries

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The Ellarslie Open, Trenton City Museum's annual juried art show, invites artists to enter artwork from April 6 through May 16, 2025 via its online Call for Art. Sheryl Liebman Fisher, Associate Director of Gallery Henoch in New York City, will jury the 2025 show.

MPAC Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup for 2026

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center's Arts in the Community free summer concert schedule for 2026 has been announced. MPAC will present six free concerts between June and August. The lineup includes the return of three of their most popular events – Bollywood Dance Party, Country Line Dancing and Salsa at Sunset, as well as singer-songwriters, and more.

Classic American Tales' presents Tales at the Dormer House every Thursday

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 4 through October 15, 2026 (except for July 2), Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents Tales at the Dormer House in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories written by noteworthy authors, read by a variety of performers. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May, NJ. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting.

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Summer Theater's 2026 Children's Show is You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which runs weekends from June 20 to August 1, 2026. A beloved musical since its premiere in 1967, Clark Gesner brings Charles M. Schulz's "PEANUTS" characters to the stage. The musical ventures through the highs and lows of young life, from baseball and homework to young love and friendship. With an empathetic and whimsical eye, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown reminds us of the importance of connection and joy.

2026-27 Season Preview: Split Level Concerts at Jersey Shore Arts Center

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Split Level Concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) in Ocean Grove has announced the full concert lineup for its third season. All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. The season lineup includes Willie Nile, John Gorka, Dan Bern, Catie Curtis and Band, Stephen Kellogg, Abbie Gardner, Heather Maloney and Band, and Kim Richey. As they have done in prior years, artists from the Asbury Park music scene will open many of the shows.

Frank Hanavan's Hoboken is wet. In his streetscapes, surfaces glisten. The sky is rarely glowering, but it does seem full; ready to have something to say, or wrapping up something that it is busy saying. The canopy of foliage that hangs over the streetcorners feels saturated with moisture. Even the shadows on the sidewalk are puddle blue. Businesses have their umbrellas open. A few people do, too.
