Ocean County Library's Upper Shores Branch presents Rhythm N' Sound

(LAVALLETTE, NJ) -- Music lovers of all ages can swing, sway, and stomp the night away during Rhythm N’ Sound’s appearance at the Ocean County Library Upper Shores Branch on Wednesday, August 17 at 7:00pm. The perennially-popular Jersey Shore trio will perform an exciting, broad repertoire of rock ‘n roll, pop standards, classic rock, doo-wop, disco and Motown favorites.

(LAKEWOOD, NJ) -- The Wag brought their Beatles Spectacular to the Strand Theater in Lakewood on Saturday, July 23, 2022.  Following a set of original songs by The Wag, they moved into Beatles terrority and played songs from throughout the legendary act's career along with a few costume changes.  Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.



Ramapo College’s Berrie Center Receives Grants for Arts Programming

(MAHWAH, NJ) -- The Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo College of New Jersey received two grants to continue its work with local students as well as bringing arts programming to the northern New Jersey community.



The Montclair State University Galleries presents "Nothing Under Heaven" by Joseph Liatela

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Montclair State University Galleries will present the exhibition Nothing Under Heaven by Joseph Liatela from September 13 through December 9, 2022. The exhibition will be on view at the University Galleries’ newly reconfigured flagship exhibition space, the George Segal Gallery.  








Michaela Anne to Perform at Concerts in the Studio

Nashville singer-songwriter Michaela Anne has announced a string of tour dates, including a 2022 headline tour kicking off in September. Michaela will join River Whyless for three dates in KY, IL, and MN before embarking on a headlining run which will also include stops at AmericanaFest, NPR Mountain Stage, World Cafe Live and more. Locally, she will perform at Freehold's Concerts in the Studio on October 7th.



Music at Bunker Hill presents the Escher String Quartet

(SEWELL, NJ) -- Music at Bunker Hill presents the Escher String Quartet on September 11, 2022 at 3:00pm for a program of masterworks by Haydn, Barber, and Dvořák. Escher Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. A former BBC New Generation Artist and recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the quartet has performed at the BBC Proms at Cadogan Hall and is a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. In its home town of New York, the ensemble serves as season artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

State Arts Council Approves Over $28 Million in Grants, Announces New Grant Programs and Services

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The New Jersey State Council on the Arts awarded more than $28 million in grants to support over 700 arts organizations, projects, and artists throughout the state. The grants were approved earlier on July 26, 2022 at the Arts Council's 56th Annual Meeting.

PBS' Independent Lens Launches 20th Season of Free Pop-Up Screening Series in Teaneck and Nationwide

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The award-winning PBS documentary series, INDEPENDENT LENS, presents the launch of the upcoming season of Indie Lens Pop-Up in partnership with the Teaneck International Film Festival and the Puffin Cultural Forum. The season kicks-off on February 4, 2026 with The Librarians and continues through May. The series is free for all but sign up is required.

"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
