Dear Mr. Morale: A Letter to Kendrick Lamar & the Big Steppers

This is our time.  To build morale… to step up. After missing coveted coverage of Kendrick Lamar this tour, I felt impassioned to write a review in a different direction altogether.  This is the first time I’m not basing it on an actual show, but rather, a think piece which ties into one song off Lamar’s latest album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.  The song is called “Mirror.”  And, it is my hope that, by the end of the article, the reader might feel as charged or impassioned.



Brook Arts Center presents Well Alright

(BOUND BROOK, NJ) -- Opening the Brook Arts Center’s Fall season in classic rock style is Well Alright, a Rolling Stones tribute band, on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 8:00pm. The band performs the Stones' classic songs with the diligence of the original Stones recordings and selected live versions. 








Ocean County Library hosts Patriot Day concert with Gary Nokes

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- In celebration of Patriot Day, vocalist/acoustic guitarist Gary Nokes will perform a live concert on Wednesday, September 7, at the Ocean County Library Toms River Branch.  The concert begins at 6:30pm. Gary will perform a selection of traditional and contemporary patriotic songs in Mancini Hall.

"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
