(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- The Smashing Pumpkins, have announced their 26-date North American The World Is A Vampire Tour. Produced by Live Nation, the tour is set to start on Friday, July 28 at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Locally, the tour comes to the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on Thursday, August 24. They will be supported in Holmdel by Interpol and Rival Sons.
(FORT LEE, NJ) -- Park Players Productions, Inc. will present Pippin across two weekends (April 21-23 and April 28-30). Pippin is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson. Bob Fosse, who directed the original Broadway production, also contributed to the libretto. The musical uses the premise of a mysterious performance troupe, led by the Leading Player, to tell the story of Pippin, a young prince on his search for meaning and significance.
(READINGTON, NJ) -- Multi-platinum artists Fitz and The Tantrums have energized popular music and culture with a series of unshakable, undeniable, and ubiquitous anthems and albums. Their blend of "soul-influenced indie pop" will soon fill the air at the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning. Since 2008, the Los Angeles collective have magnified the scope of pop with a dash of indie, a dose of soul, and a whole lot of dancefloor-ready bounce. The band will perform at the Festival Sunday afternoon, July 30, at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ.
(MAHWAH, NJ) -- An unusual art exhibition exploring notions of alchemy and numinosity is on view in the Kresge and Pascal Galleries of the Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo College. From Alchemy to Numinosity features contemporary artists and collection loans, and continues on view through April 4. Numerous media are represented, which range from sculpture to Haitian Vodou flags to paintings. There will be a reception with artists’ talks on Monday, April 3 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

The concert is under the baton of maestro Scott Jackson Wiley and features violin virtuoso Sophia Werner (the first prize winner of the 2022 Adelphi Orchestra Competition) in Brahms Concerto for Violin in D major. Also on the program is Mendelssohn's: Hebrides Overture "Fingal's Cave" and Dvorak: Symphony no 7 in D minor. Even those who don't know very much about visual art are familiar with the Cubist approach to the human body. Pablo Picasso liked to present a person from many angles at once, and compress three-dimensional form into a two-dimensional frame. No matter what step she's on, that nude descending a staircase comes at us all at once. We know we're looking at an individual person, even if it's never clear which of those fields of color represent the present moment and which are afterimages, projections, and vapor trails. Representing human beings like this guarantees that there’ll be distortions: facial features in strange places, unexpected angles, duplicates and odd subtractions, clashes between heads, necks, and torsos, the shuffling of expressions, and the surprise and disquiet that comes when an obviously human figure doesn't look much like a human at all.
