(WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- Hudson Theatre Works presents Children's Theatre April 22-23 with performances of "The 3 Little Pigs" by Diana London at Theatre at the Wilson School (80 Hauxhurst Avenue) in Weehawken. This is a humorous new version of the well-known story by Hoboken author Diana London. Along with some new characters, the 3 Little Pigs learn some important lessons as they outwit the big bad wolf!

(LINCROFT, NJ) -- The Center for the Visual Arts Gallery presents "Entanglements," an exhibition highlighting the transformative and thought-provoking work of ecofeminist artist-educator Amanda Thackray. The exhibit will run until April 28th and feature several of Thackray's multidisciplinary pieces.

(MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s (STNJ) 61st season will begin on May 31st with The Rose Tattoo by Tennessee Williams. This exuberant, extravagant tale of Serafina Delle Rose, a Sicilian widow living on the turbulent Gulf Coast outside of New Orleans, is an astonishing and poetic ode to this irresistible force of sensuality and the power of longing, hope, and desire. Replete with a Greek chorus-like cast of colorful characters, the play is a boisterous and beautiful celebration of life and love. The production runs through June 18, 2023.

Even those who don't know very much about visual art are familiar with the Cubist approach to the human body. Pablo Picasso liked to present a person from many angles at once, and compress three-dimensional form into a two-dimensional frame. No matter what step she's on, that nude descending a staircase comes at us all at once. We know we're looking at an individual person, even if it's never clear which of those fields of color represent the present moment and which are afterimages, projections, and vapor trails. Representing human beings like this guarantees that there’ll be distortions: facial features in strange places, unexpected angles, duplicates and odd subtractions, clashes between heads, necks, and torsos, the shuffling of expressions, and the surprise and disquiet that comes when an obviously human figure doesn't look much like a human at all.
