American Theater Group Presents New Works/New Voices Playwriting Events

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG), Central NJ's professional theater company, is pleased to present its New Works/New Voices playwriting performances on Friday, April 21st at 7:00pm at West Orange High School and Monday, May 8th at 7:00pm at Columbia High School. These free events are part of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance's Stages Festival, the state's largest annual theater festival, which provides free and discounted theater events for all ages from March through May.

Playhouse 22 presents "Superior Donuts"

(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Called "a very entertaining comedy-drama with a whole lot of heart", Superior Donuts by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts is coming to Playhouse 22 on April 21 and runs weekends through May 7. Directed by Jon Heron, the play follows the relationship between despondent Arthur Przybyszewski, a former 1960s radical who owns a rundown donut shop in Chicago's Uptown, and Franco, his energetic but troubled young African American assistant, who wants to update the establishment with lively music and healthy menu options.



Lewis Center For The Arts' Programs In Theater And Music Theater Present "La Gran Cumbia Espectacular!"

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Programs in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University present La Gran Cumbia Espectacular!, a theatrical performance conceived by Princeton senior Kaelani Burja celebrating cumbia, a rhythm/dance/music genre with African and Indigenous roots that originated along Colombia's Río Magdalena, featuring choreography by guest artist Andrea Guajardo. Performances, which are free and open to the public, are April 21, 22, 27 and 28 at 8:00pm in the Wallace Theater at the Lewis Arts complex on the Princeton campus. No tickets are required.








Lydia Smith to Compete in Poetry Out Loud National Semifinals in Washington, DC on May 9

(WASHINGTON, DC) -- Lydia Smith, an 11th grade student at Henry Hudson Regional School in Highlands, NJ, was named the 2023 New Jersey Poetry Out Loud champion. Smith is now advancing to the Poetry Out Loud National Semifinals, which will take place on Tuesday, May 9 in Washington, DC.

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The award-winning PBS documentary series, INDEPENDENT LENS, presents the launch of the upcoming season of Indie Lens Pop-Up in partnership with the Teaneck International Film Festival and the Puffin Cultural Forum. The season kicks-off on February 4, 2026 with The Librarians and continues through May. The series is free for all but sign up is required.
