"Dance It Out!" Is Amplifying Community

In addition to the jam-packed schedule of summer camp sessions and classes at the Perkins Center for the Arts, the Center has added a series of outdoor programs with the World Stage Series: Dance It Out! featuring four shows that highlight international music and dancing, including Afro-Puerto Rican, Cumbia, Middle Eastern and Bollywood styles, two Indie Nights that showcase three contemporary bands each night, and two Irish Music Session Meet and Greets, designed to bring together those in the community who favor traditional Irish music and instruments.



State Theatre presents Lyle Lovett and His Large Band

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Lyle Lovett and His Large Band on Friday, August 4 at 8:00pm. A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel, and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers.

When the people at Mad Hands Records undertook the release of "American Masters Sing The Blues" nearly 20 years ago, it was done so with the intent to expose the masses to many of the talents, who for so long flew under the radar of mainstream radio and media. 



The Eagles Announce Final Tour; Shows Include NYC and Newark

(NEWARK, NJ) -- After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye” will be the band's final tour. Thirteen shows have been initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The tour comes to the Prudential Center in Newark for shows on September 16-17, 2023. The Eagles' long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan, will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.








Fall 2023 New Jersey Film Festival to Take Place September 8th through October 8th

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center, in association with the Rutgers University Program in Cinema Studies, will present the Fall 2023 New Jersey Film Festival on Fridays and Sundays from September 8 to October 8, 2023. This marks the festival's 42nd anniversary.



Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association presents Pianist Ying Li

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Continuing its "Summer Stars" classical concert series, the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA) will present young pianist Ying Li on Thursday, July 13 at 7:30pm at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove. Praised as "graceful" and "lyrical" by Cleveland Classical, young Chinese pianist Li is the first-prize winner of the 2021 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, as well as recipient of The Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Prize and the Tri-I Noon Recitals Prize.



Lizzie Rose Music Room presents The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band

(TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 7:30pm. The band has built its reputation the long, slow, hard way. After 12 years of playing as many as 300 shows each year, Rev. Peyton, the world's foremost country blues finger-style picker, along with the biggest little band in the country has pieced together one of the most dedicated followings out there.

MPAC Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup for 2026

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center's Arts in the Community free summer concert schedule for 2026 has been announced. MPAC will present six free concerts between June and August. The lineup includes the return of three of their most popular events – Bollywood Dance Party, Country Line Dancing and Salsa at Sunset, as well as singer-songwriters, and more.

Classic American Tales' presents Tales at the Dormer House every Thursday

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 4 through October 15, 2026 (except for July 2), Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents Tales at the Dormer House in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories written by noteworthy authors, read by a variety of performers. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May, NJ. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting.

Princeton Summer Theater presents "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown"

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Summer Theater's 2026 Children's Show is You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which runs weekends from June 20 to August 1, 2026. A beloved musical since its premiere in 1967, Clark Gesner brings Charles M. Schulz's "PEANUTS" characters to the stage. The musical ventures through the highs and lows of young life, from baseball and homework to young love and friendship. With an empathetic and whimsical eye, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown reminds us of the importance of connection and joy.

2026-27 Season Preview: Split Level Concerts at Jersey Shore Arts Center

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Split Level Concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) in Ocean Grove has announced the full concert lineup for its third season. All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. The season lineup includes Willie Nile, John Gorka, Dan Bern, Catie Curtis and Band, Stephen Kellogg, Abbie Gardner, Heather Maloney and Band, and Kim Richey. As they have done in prior years, artists from the Asbury Park music scene will open many of the shows.

Loss, we've all suffered it. Some of us more than others,some less and still yet there are those of us who've not had loss of any significance to this point. Loss, like anything else, is directly related to perspective. What may seem like a huge loss to one, is insignificant to another. People pass away, bad days do the same, they fade into the night or disappear at the bottom of one's favorite drink until they are swept away by the morning's sunrise and things are new. Some loss stays a bit longer, adding scars to our bodies until they become topographical maps of memories; reminders of what not to do or what we didn't do or should've done.
