Top Chefs Unite to Make a Difference on July 17th

(OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- Get ready to embark on a culinary journey through La Riviera D'Italia, accompanied by the finest Italian wine and spirits, at the highly anticipated Chefs Who Care event. Taking place on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 5:00pm-9:00pm at The English Manor in Ocean Township, NJ, this premiere gathering of renowned chefs from New York City and New Jersey aims to raise funds and awareness for The Ashley Lauren Foundation and honoring Sir Gary Kong. New York Classical Theatre presents "Richard III" with All-Female, Gender-Fluid Cast

(NEW YORK, NY) -- New York Classical Theatre has announced an all-female, gender-fluid, and disability-forward cast for Shakespeare's Richard III. The production, directed by Burdman, will play in Central Park from June 13 to June 25; in Brooklyn Commons at Metrotech from June 27 to July 2; and in Carl Schurz Park from July 4 to July 9. All performances are free and open to the public.



New Jersey Symphony Announces 2023 Edward T. Cone Composition Institute Composers

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Symphony has announced the composers for the ninth Edward T. Cone Composition Institute. The 2023 Institute will take place Sunday, July 9 through Saturday, July 15 in Newark, culminating in a performance of the composers’ works on Saturday, July 15, 2023. This year's winning composers include Tom Morrison with his work Messages in the Ground, Kory Reeder with his work Walls of Brocade Fields, Sam Wu with his work Hydrosphere and Yangfan Xu with her work Bya.

Ted Rosenthal Trio to Perform at Jersey Jazz LIVE! in Madison on June 11th

(MADISON, NJ) -- Pianist Ted Rosenthal has released 15 albums as a leader, among them 2014's Rhapsody in Gershwin (Playscape) and 2010's Impromptu (CD Baby). The former featured his arrangement of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" for a jazz trio; the latter demonstrated his reconceptualizing of classical themes for a jazz trio.



Classic American Tales presents "Tales at the Dormer House" beginning June 8

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Classic American Tales (CAT) presents Tales At The Dormer House.  This new company has taken on what had been presented by East Lynne Theater Company (ELTC) for 33 years under the name "Tales of the Victorians." As usual, with "Tales," attendees are treated to tea and tantalizing treats, while listening to stories by American authors like O. Henry, Zora Neale Hurston, and Mark Twain read, now by CAT performers, for only $12.00, cash at the door. Children are always welcome, and ages 12 and under are free.

Balaena & The Sprayer screen at the June 2023 New Jersey International Film Festival on Sunday, June 4

Balaena directed by Alessia Cecchet and The Sprayer directed by Farnoosh Abedi are two short films playing at the 2023 New Jersey International Film Festival that address the relationship between people and their impact on the environment, both negative and positive. These films use various art forms to highlight the issue of climate change in a thoughtful and visually stimulating way.

PBS' Independent Lens Launches 20th Season of Free Pop-Up Screening Series in Teaneck and Nationwide

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The award-winning PBS documentary series, INDEPENDENT LENS, presents the launch of the upcoming season of Indie Lens Pop-Up in partnership with the Teaneck International Film Festival and the Puffin Cultural Forum. The season kicks-off on February 4, 2026 with The Librarians and continues through May. The series is free for all but sign up is required.

The second episode of Lighty’s Corner is live! This is a bi-weekly recorded radio show presenting new rock music from around the globe. Each of the 15 new tracks played were received via email within the last two weeks - a practice I hope to continue each time.




"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
