(BYRAM TWP, NJ) -- Wild West City, a western theme park which is based on the "wild west", is bringing plenty of "new" to this year's action. Looking for something to do in New Jersey? The iconic Western-themed amusement park's season opening is the weekend of May 6-7, 2023.

Wild West City, a perfect day trip for families and couples, has been entertaining audiences for over six decades with live action-packed shows, train and stagecoach rides, demonstrations, historical exhibits, music, special events and an opportunity to mingle with cowboys and cowgirls in "Dodge City."

This year, Wild West City is looking to initiate some "new" traditions and activities during the course of the season, such as The Cowboy Corral where participants will find a unique, one of a kind roping experience, and, introducing a new production, the Billy the Kid Show: Billy's Great Escape.

"In the Corral, you'll be able to swing a rope just like a cowboy on the range!" said Katie Benson, whose family owns Wild West City. "Once you get a couple practice swings in you can make it competitive with family or friends with the new game earning points depending on how you rope the steer. The Billy the Kid Show brings history to life with one of the west's most notorious outlaws."

In addition, the Native American Indian Village, which debuted last year, is being expanded to include a more detailed history of how Native Americans lived.

For frequent visitors to Wild West City, Posse Memberships are being offered. It includes unlimited visits throughout the 2023 season, admission to all special event days, bring a friend ticket, souvenir WWC Cup, discounts at food and retail shops and more.

In the Golden Nugget Saloon, management is creating new menu items that fit the theme park atmosphere. Seasonal eats and craft cocktails are just some of the items that the saloon will have to offer in the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, in celebration of Byram Township's 225th anniversary every Wednesday in July Byram residents get free admission (must show proof of residency). The park will also be collecting donations for the Byram Township Historical Society.

The park is also honoring as part of Byram’s 225 year anniversary its local EMS, Lakeland Emergency Squad, on July 15th. Special discounted tickets will be on sale on Wild West City's website with the proceeds from these ticket sales being donated back to Lakeland Emergency Squad. The day will be filled with fun western activities for all ages! More details will be posted on the website and social media.

Buoyed by the popularity of shows like Yellowstone and other western TV shows and movies, Wild West City affords those fans a chance to see what the wild west was all about up close and personal. Wild West City can also be an educational experience for those who want to simply learn about the history of the west.

Wild West City offers an array of special days during the year: among them Wild West City's National Day of the Cowboy and Cowgirl, Civil War reenactments, Native American events and more. The amusement park will continue to feature many of its annually held theme days with discounts, such as on Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Scout weekends.

Tickets for any Wild West City day can be purchased in advance online. Groups are also welcome. For more information about Wild West City and to view its special event schedule visit wildwestcity.com.
