(SOMERSET, NJ) -- Villagers Theatre's BlackBox series presents Diary of a Simpy Kid across two weekends from March 20-29, 2026. Based on the beloved book and movie series “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” by Jeff Kinney, the show is a musical parody of the iconic characters we all know and love.
The play xfollows self-proclaimed narcissist Greg Heffley as he begins his first week of middle school and navigates all of the emotional turmoil that arrives at the start of growing up, along with a colorful cast of characters including his best friend Rowley and his angsty older brother Rodrick. Alongside Holly Hills and her friend Patty Farrell, who experience the turmoils of growing up and womanhood. Complete with a wacky ensemble of parents, school bullies, and bandmates, hijinks, drama, and hilarity are all quick to ensue.
The production is directed by Mike Trujillo.
Performances take place Friday, Mar 20 at 8:00pm; Saturday, Mar 21 at 8:00pm; Sunday, Mar 22 at 2:00pm; Friday, Mar 27 at 8:00pm; Saturday, Mar 28 at 8:00pm; and Sunday, Mar 29 at 2:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. The theater is located at 515 DeMott Lane in Somerset, New Jersey.
