Two River Theater presents Events in June Celebrating Pride and Juneteenth

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater is thrilled to present a diverse lineup of events this June in celebration of Pride Month and Juneteenth. Throughout the month, the theater will host a series of entertaining and meaningful events—from a thought-provoking film screening with author and GRAMMY®-nominated poet, Kevin Powell, to the much-beloved 6th Annual Pride on the Plaza event. These offerings aim to foster dialogue, celebrate identity, and bring people together in a spirit of unity and celebration.

The event lineup includes:

JUNE 14, 2025 from 10:00am – 1:00pm | FREE ADMISSION | Juneteenth Celebration with Kevin Powell: When We Free The World ScreeningJoin Two River and author and GRAMMY®-nominated poet, Kevin Powell for a screening of his directorial debut documentary, When We Free The World, which seeks to answer that age-old question, “what is a man?” The documentary gathers the voices of 70 Black men to explore manhood from a multigenerational, deeply personal, and culturally relevant perspective. A Q&A with Kevin and his wife and co-producer, Evangeline Lawson, moderated by Executive Director of the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center Gilda Rogers, to follow.

JUNE 17, 2025 from 6:30pm – 9:00pm | STUDIO A | FREE  ADMISSION | WBGO Live Interview With Brandon J. Dirden. Join us for a LIVE WBGO interview with The Price Director Brandon J. Dirden! Presented live on stage and recorded for broadcast at a later date, Dirden will chat all about Arthur Miller’s towering production – the final show of our 2024/25 Season – as well as his history with Two River over the years. This event is FREE and open to the public!

JUNE 20, 2025 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm | LIBRARY | FREE ADMISSION | The Price Pride NightJoin us for a pre-show event for LGBTQ+ people and their allies to come together before enjoying the a performance of The Price! Come enjoy light bites and drinks while you mix and mingle at this vibrant and inclusive gathering. Tickets for the 8:00pm show sold separately - use code PRIDE for $25 tickets!

JUNE 22, 2025 from 11:00am - 12:00pm | LOBBY | FREE ADMISSION | Drag Story HourJoin them for Drag Story Hour featuring the fabulous Harmonica Sunbeam! Enjoy a delightful hour of reading, singing, and dancing, and creative activities. Books and coloring pages will be provided. Fun for families with little ones age 12 and under.

JUNE 27, 2025 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm | TICKETS $20 | Pride on the PlazaTwo River’s annual Pride on the Plaza returns for the sixth year! With music from DJ Lovelace, join the top hatted diva of New Jersey Lady Celestina plus special guests Janae SaisQuoi and Volkie Leigh Versace for a fabulous party full of dancing and celebration! In case of rain, the festivity will take place inside in Studio A.

JUNE 29, 2025 from 10:00am – 3:00pm | LOBBY | FREE | Community ClosetTwo River Theater's first Community Closet event lifts up hands-on advocacy, kindness and...community! The event begins with a month-long drive for items desperately needed by our local nonprofit partners for the families they serve: clothing, paper goods, toiletries, school supplies and canned food. On June 29, we will host these families and partners in our lobby, providing them with the opportunity to collect these items for free. The Closet will then open up as a free market to the general public.

Two River Theater produces American and world classics, new plays and musicals, programs for young people, and festivals of new work. Each year, we serve over 20,000 students, families and community members through our 4-6 show season, and 85+ events that reflect our diverse community of Monmouth County. Two River produces work on two stages—the 350-seat Joan and Robert Rechnitz Theater, and the flexible 110-seat Marion Huber Theater.

In 2020 they expanded their campus to 80,000 square feet with the opening of the Center for New Work, Education and Design. Two River Theater has commissioned and premiered original projects including Be More Chill by Tony Award nominee Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz (the theater’s first Broadway production) and Hurricane Diane by former Playwright-in-Residence Madeleine George (which won an Obie Award for its Off-Broadway run), and  in June 2019, Two River was nationally recognized by USA TODAY as one of “10 great places to see a play.” Two River Theater is led by Artistic Director Justin Waldman and Managing Director Nora DeVeau-Rosen.
