The Newton Theatre presents Big Apple Comedy Club

originally published: 11/28/2023

(NEWTON, NJ) -- The fan-favorite comedy show, The Big Apple Comedy Club, is returning to The Newton Theatre to bring a laugh-packed night with four hilarious comedians on stage for one epic evening on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 8:00pm.  The lineup includes Gordon Baker-Bone, Karen Bergreen, Chris Roach, and Daniel Torado.

Gordon Baker-Bone is not a stage name, it's his real name. It's also a name you won't soon want to forget. This NJ native has been performing nationwide and has featured on AXS TV's Gotham Live and voted one of Brooklyn's 50 Funniest People in 2016. He's written for MTV and is a regular at clubs around New Jersey, New York and Connecticut including The Gotham Comedy Club and The Borgata Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City. He is poised to be a top comedian of his generation.

Two huge benefits came with Karen Bergreen's decision to leave behind a budding career as a corporate lawyer ... one less lawyer and one more fine comedienne. A rising star on the New York comedy scene, Karen is quickly becoming recognized for her quirky persona and sharp intellect throughout the country. In a relatively short time, Karen has earned invitations to perform at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen Colorado (twice), The Friars Club in New York City and The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Karen has also performed her stand up on television on Comedy Central's “Premium Blend, ”New Joke City with Robert Klein and Gotham Comedy Live! As an actress, Karen has been seen on a variety of commercials, independent films and NBC's Law & Order. Off- Broadway, Karen was a regular revolving cast member in the hit show, “The J.A.P. Show.”

Standing 6' 6" tall, Chris Roach recently brought his comedy to new heights as a series regular on the CBS sitcom "Kevin Can Wait" playing Kevin's buddy "Mott." Born and raised in Ronkonkoma, NY, Chris has appeared on Comedy Central and had a recurring role on ABC’s One Life to Live as Rodney the lovable mental patient. Chris has appeared at some of America’s top venues including The Borgata Hotel and Casino, Caroline’s on Broadway, Governors Comedy Club and Stand-Up NY sharing the stage with big names like Kevin James, Richard Lewis and Carlos Mencia.

Daniel Tirado is a New York based comedian, actor and writer, born and raised in Montreal. Daniel quickly caught the attention of the comedy industry when he was invited to perform at the world- renowned Just For Laughs Festival, only six months into stand- up! Since then, he has been a regular at the festival, playing in various shows including a taped performance for Kevin Hart’s LOL Network and Best of the Fest. In addition, Tirado was invited to entertain audiences in French, making him one of a handful of comedians to perform at the festival in both languages. Tirado has made several appearances on AXS TV's Gotham Comedy Live, TruTV’s Laff Tracks and can be seen on an episode of Netflix's The Punisher. Further credits include being selected as one of the Top Ten Finalists at the StandUp NBC showcase. His short film "The Yellow Bicycle'' premiered at the Academy Award-Qualifying Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival. This spring, Daniel will appeared on HBO's White House Plumbers starring Woody Harrelson.
