(LINCROFT, NJ) -- The Monmouth Museum presents The Infinite City by Michael Dal Cerro, on display from January 15 - February 12, 2023 in the Nilson Gallery This exhibition is part of the New Jersey Emerging Artists Series,a unique and exciting program for NJ artists who have never had a one-person show of their work in our state. Michael Dal Cerro’s painstakingly crafted woodcut and linocut prints could be seen as playful architectural proposals.

In his artwork he is exploring a range of subjects such as: urban planning, or lack thereof, overdevelopment and the commercialization of public space. Dal Cerro suggests alternative possibilities with his idiosyncratic view of contemporary architectural design. His imaginary urban spaces, like real cities, are evolutionary creations that are the result of both chance and careful planning. The Infinite City keeps growing and adapting to new conditions. Blending traditional representation with two dimensional design, his city sites are portrayed with assertive colors, invented geometric and biomorphic shapes in a dynamic, multi-layered picture space.

The Museum will hold a gallery opening reception on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 4:00pm-6:00pm in the Nilson Gallery. Admission is free.  You can secure your free ticket here.

The Monmouth Museum is located at 765 Newman Springs Road (on the campus of Brookdale Community College) in Lincroft, New Jersey. It is a museum of Ideas, presents changing art, history and science exhibitions to educate and entertain while providing a destination for creative expression and life-long learning to the diverse community it serves. The Nilson Gallery is a 900 square foot space, featuring solo exhibitions from their New Jersey Emerging Artists Series. The Nilson Gallery also features community-based collaborative exhibitions and exhibits that highlight the talents of our artist members.
