The Hold Steady Announce Tour with NJ, PA, and NY shows

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- The Hold Steady will continue to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their foundation with a number of newly announced live dates that include two shows in the area in September - White Eagle Hall on September 22nd WXPN's ExPoNential Music Festival September 23rd. The tour also includes four shows at the Brooklyn Bowl in NY November 29 through December 1-2.

At the Jersey City and Las Vegas shows  (October 7th - their first show in Las Vegas in nearly a decade), a special merch bundle add-on featuring limited edition show poster and event tote bag will be available. Pre-sales for both concert dates are available now (Password: PROGRESS). All remaining tickets will go on sale Friday, May 19 at 10:00am (local). The band will also be appearing on CBS Saturday Morning on May 20. Alongside their performance will be an exclusive interview with legendary host Anthony Mason.

Previously announced, The Hold Steady will make their first-ever appearance at Newport, RI’s venerable Newport Folk Festival, set for Saturday, July 29. All tickets for the annual event are already sold out; waitlists are available HERE. The Newport Folk Festival provides grants to music education programs on behalf of every artist on the lineup. The Hold Steady has chosen Willie Mae Rock Camp, which empowers girls and gender-expansive youth through music education.

Future highlights also include a free headline show presented by 91.9 WFPK at Louisville, KY’s Louisville’s Waterfront Park on June 28; a sold-out two-night stand at Chicago, IL’s The Salt Shed on June 30 and July 1 (joined by special guests The Mountain Goats and Dillinger Four), as well as an additional sold-out show at Chicago’s The Empty Bottle on July 2; and an eagerly anticipated headline show at St. Paul, MN’s Minnesota State Fair on September 2, joined by special guests Bob Mould Band and Dillinger Four.

Hailed by Pitchfork as “vivid and weird: a celebration of second winds, unlikely comebacks, and undying rock’n’roll dreams,” The Hold Steady’s acclaimed ninth studio album, The Price of Progress, is available now on their own Positive Jams label via Thirty Tigers in a variety of formats, including digital download, CD, standard black vinyl, translucent green vinyl (theholdsteady.net), metallic gold (Independent Retail exclusive), metallic silver (Vinyl Me, Please exclusive), and white (Rough Trade exclusive). The album includes such standout tracks as “Grand Junction,” “Understudies,” “Sixers,” and “Sideways Skull,” all available now for streaming and download. The Hold Steady recently visited NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers for an explosive live performance of “Sideways Skull.” 

The Hold Steady’s landmark 20th anniversary will further be commemorated by the upcoming publication of The Gospel of The Hold Steady: How a Resurrection Really Feels, a new oral history by Michael Hann and The Hold Steady, arriving July 25 via Akashic Books. Preorders are available now. Exclusive to the online pre-order is a Limited-Edition Package for The Gospel of the Hold Steady featuring a copy of the book signed by the band as well as the signed chapbook, TJK on THS – a behind-the-scenes photo journal by guitarist Tad J. Kubler spanning the band’s two-decade history (along with an exclusive introduction by THS frontman Craig Finn) only available as part of this package.
