Surflight Theatre presents "The Great American Trailer Park Musical"

originally published: 09/17/2024

(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre presents The Great American Trailer Park Musical from September 18-28, 2024. There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres—and she's wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. The Great American Trailer Park Musical features a Book by Betsy Kelso and Music & Lyrics by David Nehls.

At the Armadillo Acres trailer park in Starke, Florida, high school sweethearts Norbert and Jeannie have settled into a loveless marriage, complicated by Jeannie's unwillingness to leave her trailer since the abduction of her son two decades prior. Norbert has purchased tickets for the couple to watch the Ice Capades as a present for their upcoming anniversary, in hopes of coaxing Jeannie out of the trailer. Soon arriving in town is Pippi, a stripper on the run from her abusive boyfriend, hoping the drama at Armadillo Acres will distract everyone else from her plight to allow her to live in peace.

Performances take place September 18 at 7:30pm; September 19 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; September 20 at 7:30pm; September 21 at 7:30pm; September 22 at 2:00pm; September 24 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; September 25 at 7:30pm; September 26 at 7:30pm; September 27 at 7:30pm; September 28 at 7:30pm; and September 29 at 2:00pm.  Tickets are available for purchase online. Surflight Theatre is located at 201 Engleside Avenue in Beach Haven, New Jersey.

The Great American Musical is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC.

Coming up next at Surflight Theatre is Steel Magnolias (October 2-6). Truvy Jones runs a successful beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies in the neighborhood have a standing Saturday appointment. Along with her anxious and eager assistant, Annelle, Truvy styles the hair of many of the women about town: wealthy widow and former first lady of Chinquapin, Clairee Belcher, local curmudgeon Ouiser Boudreaux, intelligent and compassionate career woman M’Lynn, and her daughter Shelby, the prettiest girl in town. As the women of Chinquapin make their way over life’s many hurdles together, they find comfort (and a fair amount of verbal ribbing) in one another.
