Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music Presents Symposium to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Stone Pony

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University will present a symposium on Saturday, February 10, 2024 that celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Stone Pony.  Titled Spotlighting 50 Legendary Years of Music Memories, the day-long event will include panel discussions and interviews that explore the history of the club through the eyes of those who helped to shape its success.

Participants in the symposium include Stone Pony founder Jack Roig; performers include Lance Larson (Lord Gunner), Gordon Brown (Mr. Reality, Highway 9, Samhill), Jon Leidersdorf (The Outcry, Blowup) Harry Filkin and Joel Kraus (Cats on a Smooth Surface), authors; Jean Mikle, Nick Corasaniti, and Bob Santelli and many others who were and are instrumental in the continued success of the world-famous music club.

“How is it that the Stone Pony remains one of the very few premier rock clubs that continue to thrive and remain successfully relevant for five decades?” asks Eileen Chapman, Director of the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music.  “It could be the wide range of always-evolving music the club presents, from showcasing emerging artists to the hosting the most current international acts. Or that since the nightclub’s opening night everyone involved in the establishment has had a deep love and respect for the music, the musicians, and the audience.”

The symposium will be held at the legendary Stone Pony on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1:00pm. Tickets are $25 and are available for purchase online or at the Stone Pony Box Office. The Stone Pony is located at 913 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music serves as the official repository for the musical legacy of Bruce Springsteen. The Archives includes photographs, periodicals, oral histories, rare recordings, historic footage, and artifacts related to Springsteen and the E Street Band.  The Center for American Music produces museum exhibitions, seminars, concerts, and other public and educational programs that both explore and celebrate the nation’s rich music tradition.
