Skyline Arts presents Bye Bye Birdie: Youth Edition this weekend

originally published: 12/05/2024

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Skyline Arts presents Bye Bye Birdie: Youth Edition at Art House Productions with four performances from December 7-8, 2024. This is a fun-loving musical filled with rock & roll, humor, and vibrant songs.

Set in 1958, the story follows talent agent, Albert, and his girlfriend, Rosie, trying to save Almaelou Music Company after their star client and Teen heartthrob, Conrad Birdie, gets drafted into the army. Their plan involves a trip to Sweet Apple, Ohio where Conrad will bestow his farewell kiss on a randomly chosen fan, Kim MacAfee, but having a celebrity in town will shake up relationships, families, and feelings.

The concept for this musical is based on the fame and army induction of Elvis Presley. Conrad Birdie is a veritable copy of Elvis in character, but also in the way Elvis was able to affect his fans. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score and hilarious script, Bye Bye Birdie remains one of the most popular shows across the country. Hit songs include “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Kids!” and “Rosie.”

Performances take place Saturday, December 7 at 3:00pm & 7:00pm and Sunday, December 8 at 1:00pm & 5:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online.  Art House Productions is located at 545 Marin Boulevard in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Bye Bye Birdie: Youth Edition runs for approximately 1 hour and 15 min.
