"Romeo and Juliet" Comes to Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown in September

(MOORESTOWN, NJ) -- Exclamation Theater, Inc. presents William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet across two weekends in September at Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown. Shakespeare's classic play tells the story of two teenagers, Romeo and Juliet, who fall in love despite the hatred between their feuding families. They choose to marry secretly, but due to the family rivalry and circumstances beyond their control, they and others perish tragically.

In this performance the roles of Juliet’s parents, Lady Capulet and Lord Capulet, will be played as one character by Hester Young. Young is a twelve-year resident of Lawrenceville and this is her first show with the theater company.

The show is directed by Patricia Robinson-Linder and the cast includes the following members: Jasper “Jazz” Hilliard, Lucas Vitale, Sam Sutcliffe, Hester Young, Robert Ruelan, Emile Wong, Nate Wolfington, Sophia Luna, Scarlett Catalfumo, Shelley Bromberg, and Kristine Knowlton.

Performances take place September 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 2:00pm and September 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, and 21 at 7:00. All shows will be performed outdoors at Perkins Center for the Arts at 395 Kings Highway in Moorestown, New Jersey. Donations of $10 per person are recommended. Those with blankets and sit-upons may sit closer to the stage, while those with folding and outdoor chairs will sit behind the line. EVENT PREVIEWS

When you think of the word injury, what springs to mind? Theater, right? Maybe not but perhaps it should. "Gruesome Playground Injuries" is a play written by Ravi Joseph. A fast-paced, intense, and darkly comic play, it tells the story of Kayleen and Doug, two friends whose lives are intertwined through a series of injuries that bring them together. Joseph highlights the complexity and messiness of life, reminding us that it becomes a bit easier with someone by our side.
