Raven’s Room The Art Exhibit takes place July 23rd

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Raven’s Room The Art Exhibit will be held on Saturday, July, 23rd at Vintage Dope Thrift (1027 S Clinton Avenue) in Trenton. This art exhibit is free entry and entails a collection of paintings, drawings, and multimedia collages inspired by life experiences, emotional release, intuition, and abstracted dreams. Over the past year, George has explored various mediums and styles. Raven’s Room draws inspiration from her actual living space. Not only is it the bedroom of which she sleeps but, cries, heals, laughs, dances, prays, and hours spent making art. This is the invitation into the deepest parts of who she is.

Drawing since the age of two, George was introduced into the arts early on by her Nana. From music, dance, instruments, traditional painting and drawing. Unfortunately, her Nana passed away in 2009 from cancer but leaving her granddaughter with the most precious gift of all; art expression. Fast forward, George is a Trenton native and college graduate from Montclair University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts.

In this exhibit, expect to see the beginning of a series Purity From Broken Lenses, where broken adults are taken and perceived as children, yet, remain in their current state of homelessness or addiction. As well as the Brown Girl series that captures the nature of being expressively connected with our bodies and how that may translate through passion, grief, sensuality, and healing. Raven’s process includes removing fixed subjectivity to explore passionate and emotional intimacy with the balance of restriction and creativity.

George’s art debut was in 2016 at the Holiday Inn Conference room where she invited friends and family to celebrate her artistry. Since then, she’s gone on to produce solo and group shows at Trenton Social, Mill Hill Tavern, Lawrenceville Main Street, and Philadelphia Art Collective. Recently, she collaborated with another Trenton artist on a peace mural and has another approaching this August.

This is Raven’s first Solo Art exhibition since graduating from Montclair State University. Although George has been creating since a little girl, this is the first time she’s made art that aligns with her truth. An extension of what it feels like to find courage in vulnerability.
