Princeton Makes features Lynn Levin and Sandy Solomon in Second Sunday Poetry Reading

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, will celebrate National Poetry Month and host a Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, April 10 at 4:00pm.  The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center.  The reading will feature Lynn Levin and Sandy Solomon. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry.

Lynn Levin is a poet, writer, translator, and teacher with poems in Artful Dodge, Hopkins Review, Boulevard, and Washington Square Review; essays in Hawaii Pacific Review and Michigan Quarterly Review; fiction in the Saturday Evening Post, Amarillo Bay, and Broadkill Review. Her short story “Tell Us about Your Experience” won first prize in the 2021 Bucks County Short Fiction Contest. Levin’s most recent poetry collection, The Minor Virtues (Ragged Sky), was listed as one of Spring 2020’s best books by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Levin teaches at Drexel University.

Sandy Solomon’s book, Pears, Lake, Sun received the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize from the University of Pittsburgh Press. Her work has appeared in a number of magazines, journals, and anthologies in the US and the UK, most recently in the New Yorker, Plume, and Moment magazine. She is Writer in Residence in the Creative Writing Program at Vanderbilt University. She lives in Nashville and, several months of the year, pandemic permitting, in London. This year, she's in Princeton while her husband is visiting the Institute for Advanced Study.

Princeton Makes is a cooperative comprised of 32 local artists who work across a range of artistic genres, including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles, and jewelry. Customers will be able to support local artists by shopping for a wide variety of art, including large paintings, prints, custom-made greeting cards, stained glass lamps and window hangings, jewelry in a variety of designs and patterns, and more.  Princeton Makes is an ideal place for holiday gift ideas. Ragged Sky is a small, highly selective cooperative press.  We work with our authors closely.  Authors retain copyright and we use our experience and professional resources to support the author’s work through the editing, production, and design process.  Ragged Sky Press has historically focused on mature voices, overlooked poets, and women's perspectives.
