Plein Air at Olde Stone House Village on June 3rd

(SEWELL, NJ) -- Artists will paint and draw in Plein Air on June 3, 2023, (rain date June 4) from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Olde Stone House Historic Village in Sewell. This third annual event will feature a free children's art class at 10:00am, whisk broom making class for adults and older children at 11:00am, free village tour at 1:00pm, and several art, craft and flower vendors. At 3:00pm, judge Nicole Schmitt will announce the day's winners of prizes of $100, $200, $300. Artists will also bring works for sale. Families are encouraged to come and enjoy the free event and sample the Pine Needle Tea.

A free coloring book will be given to all children in craft class. Artist Nicole Schmitt says “Olde Stone House Historic Village Coloring Book follows a tour around the grounds of the Olde Stone House in Washington Township. The illustrations were freehand digital line drawings of collaged imagery that celebrates a blending of new traditions and old memories. The coloring page were created with intentions of demonstrating what life may have been like within our beloved historical monuments. Inspiration for the depicted historical characters have been superimposed from various pictures taken by friends of the Olde Stone House during tours and special events.”

The Olde Stone House Historic Village is located at 208 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080. For information and artist, vendor and craft registration, visit www.friendsoftheoldestonehouse.org.

This program is made possible by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission. Additional support is provided by Sustainable Washington Township, Washington Township Historical Preservation Commission, and the Friends of the Olde Stone House Village.
