Plainfield Symphony Orchestra presents "Americana Pops Concert" on November 2nd

(PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra presents "Americana Pops Concert" featuring one of their audience's favorite vocal artists, tenor Brian Cheney, at Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church. Maestro Charles Prince will lead the orchestra in a series of popular American orchestral and vocal works. Showtime is 7:00pm.

Orchestral program selections will include A Tribute to the Duke (Ellington) featuring “Caravan,” “In a Sentimental Mood”, “Sophisticated Lady” and Leroy Anderson’s “The Syncopated Clock” and “Bugler’s Holiday.” From Broadway musicals, we will hear selections from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific as well as Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music: Suite for Orchestra. Other iconic Americana pieces will include “Hoe-Down” from Aaron Copland’s ballet Rodeo and the rousing “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.

“Hailed by KUSC Los Angeles as the ‘next great tenor,’ Brian Cheney, a protégé of legendary tenor Jerry Hadley, has gained international acclaim for his versatility as a true crossover artist.” He is equally at home in both Musical Theater and Classical genres. Brian will be treating the audience to a number of beloved songs from several operettas and Broadway musicals. Please join them in person on November 2nd to experience the riveting performance of Brian Cheney and bask in some of the great and uniquely American musical gems.

Tickets for the 2024/2025 concerts are now on sale and are available for purchase online. Tickets may also be purchased at the concert. Subscription concerts are held at the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, 716 Watchung Avenue in Plainfield, New Jersey.

An Interview with Tim Palmieri of Lotus

Lotus was founded between 1998-1999 at Goshen College in Goshen, IN. Now based out of Dever, Colorado and Philadelphia, PA primarily, Lotus continues to bloom as a premiere jamtronica band for over the past 25 years. In 2021, founding member and longtime guitarist, Micheal Rempel left Lotus ushering in new guitarist, Tim Palmieri.

Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Graham Nash

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Graham Nash, two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and founding member of both the Hollies and Crosby, Stills & Nash, will perform at Count Basie Center for the Arts on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Nash will be joined on stage by Todd Caldwell (keyboards and vocals), Adam Minkoff (bass, drums, guitars and vocals) and Zach Djanikian (guitars, mandolin, drums and vocals), performing favorites from across his sixty-year career. Showtime is 7:30pm.
