(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center present URINETOWN, the hilarious musical with a terrible name, running October 17–26, 2025. Audiences can expect a wickedly funny, fast-paced satire that takes on the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics and even the very conventions of musical theatre itself. Fawn Nocera Photography was on hand to take photos.

In a Gotham-like city, a 20-year drought has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. Citizens must rely on public amenities regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the struggle, one hero decides he’s had enough — sparking a revolution for freedom!

URINETOWN’s accolades include three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards, and two Obie Awards, making it one of Broadway’s most celebrated comedies — with a “terrible” name!

Music and Lyrics by Mark Holland and Books and Lyrics by Greg Kotis. URINETOWN was produced on Broadway in September 2001 by the Araca Group and Dodger Theatricals in association with TheaterDreams, Inc., and Lauren Mitchell.

Performances take place Friday, October 17 at 7:00pm; Saturday, October 18 at 7:00pm; Sunday, October 19 at 2:00pm; Friday, October 24 at 7:00pm; Saturday, October 25 at 7:00pm; and Sunday, October 26 at 2:00pm. Tickets range from $17.50–$32.50 with a $5 student/senior discount and reserved seating. Purchase online at middletownarts.org or call the MAC Box Office at 732.706.4100.
