Pebble Players presents first college age production with "Alice By Heart"

originally published: 07/14/2024

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Pebble Players launches its first college age production with limited performances opening August 1-4, 2024.  From the Tony® and Grammy® award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson (Waitress), Alice by Heart is a touching musical inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.

As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. This world premiere musical encourages us all to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the harshest of times.

Performances take place August 1-2 at 7:30pm and August 3-4 at 2:30pm & 7:30pm at The Oakes Center (120 Morris Avenue) in Summit, New Jersey.  Tickets are available for purchase online.

The Oakes Center is a 180-seat theater housed in a beautiful former church in Summit.  The theater is handicapped accessible and has a small parking lot located off of Ashwood Ave.  Additional parking can be found in the evenings and Sundays at the flower shop and at the empty auto repair garage across the street on Morris Ave. For more on Pebble Players or Stony Hill Players, click here.
