Our Favorite Stories In Film - Bullitt County

Published by New Jersey Stage

originally published: 01/12/2022

New Jersey Stage published its 25,000th story in December 2021. As the site approached the milestone, we posed the question on social media as how we should celebrate.  One response was to highlight our favorite stories from over the years.  We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres.  Every Wednesday will feature a story about film.  We're kicking off this series with an interview with the director and producer of Bullitt County, a film that opened the New Jersey International Film Festival Summer 2018.

The interview was published on May 26, 2018 and is available here. The interview involved the film's director David McCracken and producer Josh Riedford. In David's psychological-thriller feature film, four buddies with a dark secret reunite after ten years for a bachelor party on the Kentucky Bluegrass Bourbon Trail.  When they discover that their favorite distillery has been turned into a winery, the newly sober groom, Gordie, seizes on an even better adventure: a search for a stash of buried Prohibition money deep in the woods of Bullitt County, Kentucky. His friends reluctantly join him on his quest, only to discover there’s something much more dangerous than cursed treasure.

Bullitt County would go on to win the Best Feature Award for the festival.

On Thursday we will take a look at one of our favorite stories involving comedy.
