(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Ring in the winter solstice with the close harmonies of the melodic duo Liberty Tree. “Sing Lustily of Winter: A Garland of Seasonal Songs” will be presented at the Ocean County Library Toms River Branch on Tuesday, December 20. Liberty Tree will perform historical winter-themed songs, from the popular to the obscure, in a capella arrangements and accompanied by guitar. Showtime is 6:30pm.
Liberty Tree consists of folksingers and 18th-century history enthusiasts Bob Durpré and Stacy Roth. Both can often be found participating in Revolutionary War re-enactments such as the Crossing of the Delaware with Glover’s Marbleheaders.
Bob has delighted audiences for over 40 years with ballads, folksongs, and sea chanties of the British Isles and America. He is also a principal singer and dancer with the famed Handsome Molly troupe that performs traditional and tradition-inspired “Molly dances” from England, and has been a Morris dancer since 1985.
Stacy is a local historical interpreter, singer, musician and author who moderates the Living History New Jersey Facebook page. She partners with David Emerson in History on the Hoof, a company that she founded in 1993 to bring historically-based character portrayals and activities to schools, festivals, and events.
Registration at www.theoceancountylibrary.org/events is required for this free program. For more details, visit the Toms River Branch, 101 Washington Street, or call (732) 349-6200.
