Novelist Joyce Hinnefeld and Poet Lois Marie Harrod to Present at Warren Community College

(WASHINGTON, NJ) -- The Warren Community College Visiting Authors Series returns to an in-person format on Thursday, September 15, marking the first on-campus event of the venerated and long-running series since the beginning of the pandemic. Novelist Joyce Hinnefeld and poet Lois Marie Harrod will read from their most recent books beginning at 7:30pm in room 123A. The event is free and open to the public.

Joyce Hinnefeld (shown at the top of this article) is the author of the short story collections Tell Me Everything (1998; winner of the 1997 Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference Bakeless Prize in Fiction) and The Beauty of Their Youth (2020) and the novels In Hovering Flight (2008) and Stranger Here Below (2010), along with other stories and essays. She is an Emeritus Professor of English at Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA, and the founder and co-director of the Moravian Writers’ Conference.  

Lois Marie Harrod had Harrod’s Spat published in May 2021, and her 17th collection Woman was published by Blue Lyra in February 2020. Nightmares of the Minor Poet appeared in June 2016 from Five Oaks; her chapbook And She Took the Heart appeared in January 2016; Fragments from the Biography of Nemesis (Cherry Grove Press) and the chapbook How Marlene Mae Longs for Truth (Dancing Girl Press) appeared in 2013. A Dodge poet, life-long educator and writer, she is published in literary journals and online ezines from American Poetry Review to Zone 3.  

The Visiting Authors Series is supported by a grant from the Warren County Division of Cultural & Heritage Affairs. All physical site facilities comply with ADA regulations and are fully accessible. Sign language interpretation for any VAS event is available with two weeks’ notice.

Warren Community College, located at 475 Route 57 West in Washington, New Jersey, offers students the option of earning an Associate of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, the first and only degree of its kind in New Jersey.
