North to Shore Festival presents The B-52s and The Weeklings in Atlantic City

originally published: 05/03/2024

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Experience the electrifying energy of one of The World's Greatest Party bands, The B-52s along with The Weeklings, live at Ovation Hall, nestled in the picturesque Ocean Casino + Resort, as part of the North to Shore Festival presented by Prudential. The concert takes place Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 8:00pm.

The B-52s are one of the most distinctive New Wave bands of the late 1970s. With over 40 years of boundary-pushing party rock and over 20 million albums into their career, The B-52s are improbable hit-makers with songs like "Rock Lobster," "Dance This Mess Around," and "Love Shack." Don't miss lobster rockin' with The B-52s, joined by The Weeklings, in Atlantic City!

Selling over 20 million albums worldwide, The B-52s—Fred Schneider [vocals], Kate Pierson [vocals], Cindy Wilson [vocals] — have quietly impacted alternative music, fashion, and culture over four-plus decades. They count John Lennon, Madonna, James Murphy, and Michael Stipe among their disciples. Panic! At The Disco, Blood Orange, The Offspring, Pitbull, Roger Sanchez, and DJ Shadow have sampled classics from the band's discography, as Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy, The Simpsons, Sugarland, and more offered up covers of their own.

They inched towards the forefront of the post-punk movement in America codified by 1979's self-titled The B-52s. The record went gold and placed at #152 on Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" and #99 on VH1's "Greatest Albums of All Time." The gold-selling Wild Planet arrived hot on its heels in 1980. With Keith brilliantly filling the void with music composition and live show guitar duties, 1989's watershed Cosmic Thing elevated the B-52s to another galaxy altogether. It moved five million-plus units and spawned a string of Top 10 smashes in the form of the GRAMMY®-nominated "Roam" and "Love Shack"—which Rolling Stone lauded on the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time."

The Weeklings like to say that they “channel” the music of The Beatles into explosive note-for-note renditions of Beatles classics, uniquely arranged Beatles nuggets such as “Paperback Writer” and “Baby You’re A Rich Man” and brilliant Beatles-inspired original compositions.

The Weeklings embody the spirit and bold creativity of the 1960s, bringing The Beatles to life through their own brilliant musicianship and charming stage presence. They show their audiences both what The Beatles were, and what they might have been if they were performing today. Members of The Weeklings also tour as the backup band for Springsteen drummer “Max Weinberg’s Jukebox” project.

Tickets are available for purchase online. Ocean Casino Resort is located at 500 Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
