Newton Theatre presents Big Apple Comedy Club #55

(NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents Big Apple Comedy Club #55 on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 8:00pm.  The night includes performances by four comedians: Brett Druck, Kendra Cunningham, Johnny Lampert, and Ethan Simmons-Patterson.

Brett Druck is an American stand up comic esteemed for his sharp, precise joke writing. He's best known for the viral success of his chivalry joke and was a cast member on Laughs TV Show seasons 2 & 3 on FOX and HULU where he also guest hosted. He was featured in TBS's Just For Laughs Festival and you may have seen him on America’s Got Talent and NBC SeeSo’s “Schtick or Treat: Halloween Stand Up Special.” He can also be heard him on Pandora Comedy Radio. Ethan Simmons-Patterson is a stand-up comedian and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. He performs stand-up comedy all over New York City including New York Comedy Club, Stand Up NY and The Comedy Cellar. Ethan has also been a part of numerous comedy festivals including Janelle James Festival, Floodwater Festival and New York Comedy Festival. On television, Ethan has been featured on Comedy Central’s “This Week at The Cellar.”

Boston bred and Brooklyn based, Kendra Cunningham has been named as a comic to watch by Time Out New York and has been compared to Groucho Marx and Mae West by the UK's Chortle. A regular on the New York and Boston comedy scene, she has previously been in the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, The Glasgow Comedy Festival and was a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival for two years in a row. She has twice appeared on NBC's Last Comic Standing gaining two spots in the top 100 jokes of the season. You may have seen her Dry Bar Special and her latest comedy hour Meatball Therapy as well as dozens of comedy festivals both nationally and internationally. She has starred in and written several web-series including: lonelygirl48, Boston Beat, The Dawns, I’m Not Buying It, and Why’s Everybody Always Hitting on Me? Kendra has won best comedy screenplay in the Flickers Film Festival and best comedy short in the Boston Comedy Festival.

Johnny Lampert is considered one of the premier comedians in the country. He is a regular at New York City’s and Los Angeles’ best comedy clubs including Stand Up NY, The Comic Strip and The Improv and has also made numerous television appearances on MTV, A&E, NBC, HBO “Comedy Showcase” a multitude of shows on Comedy Central and AXS TV's Gotham Comedy Live! Johnny’s four wildly successful appearances at Montreal’s “Just for Laughs” Festival led to his being named “Best Act” by The Montreal Gazette as well as the signing of a sitcom deal with Walt Disney Television. Johnny was also honored recently with, not one, but two of his routines being chosen for inclusion in the soon to be released book, “The Best Comedy Routines, Period” (Rugged Land Books, NY). In the casinos, Johnny has appeared at The Mirage, Foxwoods, Caesars Palace and The Claridge where he has worked with such stars as Dana Carvey, Michael Bolton, Chicago and Chris Rock. Johnny has also headlined the main room at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun and Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel & Casino.
