NBPAC to Screen "Running To Stand Still – Migrants Search For Hope In The Promised Land" with Talkback Afterwards

originally published: 10/14/2024

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) will present a free screening of the documentary film Running To Stand Still – Migrants Search For Hope In The Promised Land on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 6:00pm.  The film runs 25 minutes and there will be a 45-60 minute talkback afterwards.

The documentary is about the humanitarian crisis on the U.S. / Mexico border.  Running seeks to put a human face on the immigration “issue” by telling heartbreaking and inspiring stories about the migrants themselves—courageous and dignified human beings whose lives stand as a powerful rebuke to a narrative that is fraught with hatred, alarmist rhetoric, and dehumanizing stereotypes.

Filming for Running began in the Rio Grande Valley in 2022, with filming in Matamoros and Reynosa, Mexico, and in June 2023 in El Paso and Juárez, Mexico. Footage includes stories from refugee children and their families; visits to shelters and camps; and narrative interviews with social workers, psychologists, nuns, activists, pastors, and full-time volunteers. Essential interviews, observations, and stories will come from the children themselves.

Admission is free. Reserve your tickets online. There is a limit of 4 tickets per guest.
