Music Mountain Theatre to Celebrate Pride Night with 'Avenue Q' performance on June 22nd

originally published: 06/11/2024

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- In celebration of Pride Month, Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) in Lambertville is hosting its annual Pride Night on Saturday, June 22, 2024. During the evening performance of Avenue Q, currently on the mainstage at MMT, audiences are encouraged to wear their rainbow colors to show their Pride and their support.

Be a part of the photo we take of the audience before the performance. Those planning to participate will enjoy a discount to see the show after calling the theatre box office at 609-397-3337. While regular mainstage tickets at MMT are usually $32.00, Pride Night tickets are available for just $20.00. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Avenue Q, the 2003 winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, is part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart, and will be the eighth mainstage show of MMT’s 2024 season. Avenue Q runs from June 14th–June 30th, with 8:00pm evening performances on Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00pm matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays.

With music and lyrics by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez, and a book by Jeff Whitty, Avenue Q is often described as Sesame Street for adults. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere.

Meet Princeton (Riley Frankhouser), a recent college graduate who moves into a shabby New York apartment out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Among the residents of Avenue Q are Kate Monster (Jennifer Pilchman), a perky kindergarten assistant teacher; Rod (Michael Hall), a straight-laced Republican investment banker; Nicky (Karl Weigand), Rod's polar opposite roommate; Brian (Jason Kohn), an unemployed, but aspiring comedian; Christmas Eve (Jenn Hsiao), Brian's fiancée and a clientless therapist; Trekkie Monster (David Whiteman), a recluse who lives more online than anywhere else; Gary Coleman (Sarah Harrison), a former child star now serving as the apartment building’s superintendent; and many other colorful characters!

NOTE: Avenue Q contains adult themes, language, and puppet nudity, and is recommended for audiences 15 years and older.

Music Mountain Theatre is located at 1483 NJ -179 in Lambertville, New Jersey.  MMT opened its doors on October 6, 2017 with its inaugural production of Phantom.  In addition to their Mainstage productions, they offer performances for Young Audiences throughout the year.  Their theatre school offers classes encompassing a range of disciplines across acting, musical theatre, and dance.  It is the mission of MMT to enrich, educate, and entertain the community through the study, performance, and appreciation of the arts.
