(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre opens their 5th season by bringing Noises Off to the stage from January 28 through February 13. The play follows the on-and off-stage antics of a group of actors as they struggle through putting up a show. It begins by showing their dress rehearsal and follows them all the way through to their wildly disastrous closing performance. Everything that can go wrong does, and we watch the actors trying desperately to hold on to their lines, their performances and even the set pieces. Add several slippery plates of sardines, wardrobe malfunctions, many slamming doors, and you will soon understand why Noises Off has been called “the funniest play ever written.”
Playwright Michael Frayn came up with the idea for his Olivier Award winning, Tony nominated show while watching one of his own plays from backstage instead of the audience. He said, "It was funnier from behind than in front, and I thought that one day I must write a farce from behind." Audiences agreed with Frayn, and Noises Off has had three separate productions on Broadway (1983, 2002, 2016), four productions in London’s West End (1982, 2000, 2011, 2019) and even saw success as a film in 1992 starring Carol Burnett.
For the production of Noises Off, Music Mountain Theatre has created a stunning two story set that will have each of the play’s characters running amok, falling down, and popping in and out of doorways with split-second timing. Perhaps most impressive is that the set is completely turned around during the show’s intermission allowing the audience to see what happens backstage in this show-within-a-show for Act 2.
The nine person cast includes Anna Hentz,, David Whiteman, Lauren Brader, Jordan Brennan, John Dwyer. Alex Klein, Madison Kotnarowski, Deven Miller and Louis Palena.
Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online or by calling the box office at 609-397-3337.
In addition to the Mainstage productions, performances for Young Audiences will be offered throughout the year! Young audience performances will be back beginning February 12th with Pinocchio on Saturdays at 11:00am and 1:00pm.
The Theatre strives to provide a safe environment for all with rigorous cleaning procedures and a of state-of-the-art air scrubbers. In an abundance of caution & based on CDC recommendations as well as a desire to protect the health and welfare of all, face masks will be required inside the building.
