MPAC Announces 2023-24 Season Lineup

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) has announced its 2023-2024 season. The venue's 29th season will feature over 100 events in a wide range of genres, from classical music to classic rock, Broadway to the blues, smooth jazz to stunning dance, and so much more. The Doobie Brothers, Patti LuPone, John Cleese, Bernadette Peters, The Bacon Brothers, Il Divo and the Temptations and Four Tops are just some of the headline acts heading to Morristown this season.

Tickets for events go on sale to the public on Tuesday, June 20 at 10:00am.  Tickets can be ordered online at www.Mayoarts.org, by calling the box office at 973-539-8008 or stopping by the box office at 100 South Street from 10:00am – 6:00pm.

“Our 29th season promises to be full of great shows, concerts and events that represent the best of the performing arts,” says Allison Larena, President and CEO, Mayo Performing Arts Center. “There is truly something for everyone, from people who enjoy Broadway, to great classic rock, stunning modern dance to your favorites from jazz, comedy and so much more.  We have great events for families, a terrific holiday lineup anchored New Jersey Ballet’s Nutcracker and so much more all year long.”

The summer season kicks off on July 11 with The Doobie Brothers but the “official season” opens Friday September 29 – ironically the 29th anniversary of the reopening of the Theatre – with Hitting New Heights. Hitting New Heights features two of Broadway’s leading Latino performers, Mandy Gonzalez and Javier Muñoz, stars of In the Heights and Hamilton, in a celebration of the Great American Songbook.

MPAC expects another 30 or more events to be added to the schedule throughout the season.

July 2023

7/11-12 The Doobie Brothers* - For over five decades, The Doobie Brothers have been known for delivering mind-blowing, roots based, harmony-laden, guitar-driven rock and roll – all of which recently culminated in an induction into the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Their No. 1 singles “Black Water” and “What a Fool Believes" lead a catalog of indelible songs that include: “Listen to the Music,” “China Grove,” “Jesus Is Just All Right,” “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “Take Me In Your Arms,” "Takin’ it to the Streets,” “Minute by Minute,” “You Belong to Me,” “The Doctor” and more. 7/18 Andy Grammer* - Multiplatinum troubadour Andy Grammer continues to engage, energize and empower audiences with stomping stadium-size pop anthems like the quadruple-platinum “Honey, I’m Good,” platinum singles including “Keep Your Head Up,” “Fine By Me,” “Don’t Give Up On Me,” “Fresh Eyes,” and “Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah),” as well as new songs like “I Need a New Money.”

7/20 Donny Osmond* - Legendary entertainer and music icon Donny Osmond presents a dynamic musical journey of his unparalleled career that has made him one of the most popular and beloved performers in the world.

7/25 Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo* - Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo perform hits such as “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” “We Belong,” “Love is a Battlefield”, “Heartbreaker” and more with their full band.

7/27 Hermanʼs Hermits starring Peter Noone and The Grass Roots* - A double bill of classic 60s pop! Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone scored over twenty Top 40 hits, such as “There’s a Kind of Hush,” “I’m Into Something Good,” and “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter.” The Grass Roots are known for such pop classics as “Midnight Confessions,” “Temptation Eyes” and “Sooner or Later.”

7/28 Herb Alpert & Lani Hall* - Music icon Herb Alpert and Grammy award-winning vocalist Lani Hall perform an eclectic mix of Brazilian jazz, classic Tijuana Brass & Brasil ’66 songs.



August 2023

8/3 Laurel Canyon: A Salute to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young* - Laurel Canyon is an acoustic tribute to the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Consisting of Grammy Award winning writer/producer Mark Hudson, Hall of Fame songwriter Gary Burr, and singer songwriter Mark Mirando, the trio performs recreations of CSNY's seminal works as well as songs from their early bands and their solo years.

8/6 The Wallflowers* - For the past 30 years, the Jakob Dylan-led Wallflowers have stood as one of rock’s most dynamic bands by honing a sound that meshes timeless songwriting and storytelling with a hard-hitting and decidedly modern musical attack on smash hits like 1996’s Bringing Down the House (featuring “One Headlight and “6th Avenue Heartbreak”) to their most recent release, 2021’s Exit Wounds.

8/9 Don Felder* - Don Felder is renowned as a former lead guitarist of The Eagles. A true American rock and roll guitar hero, Felder builds upon his rich legacy as one of the most innovative riff-generating songwriters of the modern rock era while continuing his growth as a featured touring and recording solo artist.

8/16 Floyd Nation: Experience Pink Floyd* - Experience Pink Floyd the way true fans want to! Become immersed in amazing sound, lights and lasers as Floyd Nation takes you on an epic journey through the iconic music of one of rock’s most incredible bands with uncanny precision.

9/16 Disney Junior Live on Tour: Costume Palooza* - Disney Junior Live On Tour: Costume Palooza brings beloved Disney Junior characters and favorite Marvel Super Heroes live on stage for a jam-packed, concert-style show with singing, dancing, acrobatics, and more. 9/24 Story Pirates: The Amazing Adventure Tour (on sale June 23) - Get ready for Story Pirates: The Amazing Adventure Tour, featuring fan-favorite songs from the multi-award winning The Story Pirates Podcast and improvised sketch comedy based on ideas from kids in the audience. The Story Pirates believe that all kids are creative geniuses, and they’re ready to prove it with their fast-paced, hilarious and inspiring show for the whole family. 10/3 Gipsy Kings with Nicolas Reyes* - Nicolas Reyes has been the leader and co-founder of the Gipsy Kings for well over 30 years. From France with flamenco roots, the band is known for its fluid guitar work and powerful vocals. 10/8 The Concert: A Tribute to ABBA - Dust off your bell bottoms and platform shoes! The Concert: A Tribute to ABBA recreates the music and magic of ABBA’s greatest hits, including “Mamma Mia,” “Waterloo” and “Dancing Queen.”

10/14 Coco Live-to-Film Concert - Disney Pixar’s Coco Live-to-Film Concert features a screening of the movie Coco, with Oscar® and Grammy®-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s musical score performed live by the 20-member Orquesta Folclorica Nacional de Mexico. Coco also features the Oscar®-winning song “Remember Me” by songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Frozen), and additional songs co-written by Germaine Franco and co-director and screenwriter Adrian Molina.

10/18 Jim Messina and Pablo Cruise - A double bill of 70s pop music featuring Pablo Cruise (“Love will Find a Way,” “Watcha Gonna Do,” “A Place in the Sun”) and singer-songwriter Jim Messina, one half of Loggins and Messina (“Your Momma Don’t Dance,” “Angry Eyes”), as well as a member of Buffalo Springfield and Poco.

10/19 The Bacon Brothers - Bound by blood and a mutual love of American roots music, The Bacon Brothers have spent the past quarter-century in a creative whirl, funneling their shared DNA into a genre-bending sound. They call that sound "Forosoco" — a blend of folk, rock, soul, and country influences, delivered by two songwriters who were born to collaborate.

10/21 American Girl LIVE! In Concert (on sale June 16) - American Girl LIVE! In Concert brings your favorite characters to life in a brand-new pop concert experience! Featuring American Girl fan favorites performed by a live cast, this show is filled with music, high energy dancing and lots of surprises as our American Girls learn about the power of friendship. 10/29 Daniel Tigerʼs Neighborhood presents “King for a Day” - This grr-ific musical for little tigers and grown-ups alike finds your favorite characters on a brand-new adventure in Neighborhood of Make-Believe where Daniel learns just what it takes to be King. The beloved characters captivate you with new songs, magical moments and surprise guests along the way! It’s an event filled with tigertastic  fun, teaching the valuable lessons of kindness, helping others and being a friend.

11/4 Harry Chapin at 80: A Retrospective Starring The Chapin Family - Two generations of the musical Chapin Family – Tom, Steve and Jen Chapin, and The Chapin Sisters (Abigail and Lily) bring the songs of Harry Chapin to life. Backed by The Harry Chapin Band (including Big John Wallace and Howard Fields), the Family will perform Harry’s classic songs, including “Cat’s in The Cradle,” “Taxi,” “Mr. Tanner,” “Mail Order Annie” and more.

11/10 Celtic Thunder: Odyssey* - Odyssey is a fascinating exploration of Irish music and culture, firmly grounded in Celtic Thunder’s impressive history, while ambitiously forging new paths. Take a sweeping voyage through the heartlands of traditional Irish music, the rhythmic pulse of contemporary Irish music, and the innovative original arrangements that are emblematic of Celtic Thunder's unique sound.

11/17 Guest Attraction New Jersey Ballet: A Night on the Town - A Night on the Town will feature Jerome Robbins’ Fancy Free, his first collaboration with Leonard Bernstein, which was the inspiration for the full-length musical On the Town, and George Balanchine’s Rubies, which sends dancers racing across the stage to reflect Igor Stravinsky’s jazz-inflected piano with movements that incorporate sassy style and sharp attack. Plus additional works.

11/18 Legends of Country Rock - Enjoy an evening of the best in classic country rock, featuring Firefall (“You Are the Woman,” “Just Remember I Love You”), Pure Prairie League (“Amie”) and Richie Furay, founder of Buffalo Springfield and Poco (“Crazy Love,” “Heart of the Night”).

3/16 Vic DiBitetto - Comedian Vic DiBitetto churns energy, honesty and humanity into nonstop laughter. He’s been called a cross between Rodney Dangerfield and Ralph Kramden. The bottom line is, DiBitetto leaves his audiences breathless with laughter.

3/23 The Peking Acrobats - The Peking Acrobats push the limits of human ability by defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility and control to create exuberant entertainment with the festive pageantry of a Chinese carnival.

3/24 Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis - Guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, one of the most respected composers and improvisers of 21st century jazz, performs the New Jersey premiere of his Jazz at Lincoln Center-commissioned suite alongside the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.

3/30 Southern Rockfest featuring A Brother’s Revival and Classic Skynyrd Live - A double bill that pays tribute to two of Southern rock's greatest bands. Classic Skynyrd Live, performed by Southern Steel, pays homage to the music of Lynard Skynyrd that has been loved by fans for generations. A Brother's Revival, led by former Allman Brothers bassist David “Rook” Goldflies, brings the music of the Allman Brothers to life.

4/6 Pilobolus: Re:CREATION - Pilobolus’s new Re: Creation Tour reminds us that play and creativity are fundamental to the human experience and that stories are alive, breathing and can teach, comfort and connect us to each other. 5/18-19 Guest Attraction New Jersey Ballet: The Sleeping Beauty (Full-Length) - Restaged by Artistic Director Maria Kowroski, New Jersey Ballet will present the updated production of The Sleeping Beauty modeled after the original choreography of Marius Petipa; a three-act ballet that will take you on an engaging trip through the classic fairy tale.

6/21 Invincible: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson - Invincible authentically captures the spirit and essence of experiencing a Michael Jackson performance, featuring music from the early Jackson 5 days to the heights of his career as a solo performer. This multimedia spectacle features choreography by longtime Michael Jackson collaborator Lavelle Smith, Jr., and a cast of over a dozen musicians and dancers.
