Morven Announces Greer Luce as Curator of Education and Public Programs

originally published: 07/15/2022

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Morven Museum & Garden has named Greer Luce as their new Curator of Education and Public Programs. Volunteering as a docent at Morven in 2013 after graduating with a BA in History from Gettysburg College, Greer’s time at Morven sparked her interest in public history and inspired her to pursue a graduate degree in museum studies. Upon earning an MA in History Museum Studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program, Greer returned to the Garden State and started as Communications Officer, later Chief Communications Officer, with the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the New Jersey Department of State.

In her role as Chief Communications Officer, Greer managed the Commission’s communications outlets, developing content and implementing strategies for public outreach. She served as project manager for several statewide programmatic efforts including the 2020 NJ Women Vote: The 19th Amendment at 100 and 2021 Indigenous History initiatives. She led planning for the annual New Jersey History Conference in 2018, 2019, and 2021. Prior to the Historical Commission, Greer held positions in programs and development at the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums, Student Partner Alliance, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey.

Greer enjoys collaborating with partners and communities to create public programs that make history accessible and relevant to a wide audience. She's thrilled to return to Morven and contribute to the organization's ongoing work telling a full and authentic story of the site and its inhabitants.

From Morven Executive Director Jill M. Barry: “Greer beginning her museum career as a docent at Morven in 2013 before going to graduate school, makes her return to lead our Education and  Public Programs charge feel like a homecoming. Her enthusiasm for our mission and connections throughout the mid-Atlantic and the state will help expand the reach of our efforts.”

Morven Museum & Garden is located at 55 Stockton Street in Princeton, New Jersey.  It is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Most historic sites celebrate one notable resident, Morven is unique in that it was home to many remarkable people. Built in the 1750s and home to one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Morven was home to five generations of Stocktons, then Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. before becoming  New Jersey’s first Governor’s Mansion and home to five New Jersey governors, their families and staffs; witnessing nearly 300 years of history. The gardens are open daily until dusk.
