(METUCHEN, NJ) -- mignolo dance presents the premiere of "Soldier Island" on Friday, April 1 at 7:30pm. "Soldier Island" is a feature length screendance loosely based on the best-selling murder mystery novel And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.
The project features 10 dancers to represent the 10 main characters of the novel and was recorded inside The Drake House, a historic home in Plainfield, NJ. Because they were unable to rehearse together in the same room due to much of the creation period taking place during the height of COVID, each dancer has their own film within the film and lives (with some exceptions) within their own video box. Some of the dancers never even met in person, and this reflects both the new possibilities unlocked by these exceptional times and just how stratified our world has become.

mignolo dance is a 501-c3 nonprofit contemporary dance company founded by sisters Charly & Eriel Santagado. They have been dancing and creating together for more than ten years and use this experience to continue to collaborate with each other and other dancers and artists throughout the tristate area. Their work explores elements of various artistic mediums through the lens of movement.
mignolo arts center is located at 272 Lake Avenue in Metuchen, New Jersey. It is a state of the art, 28x40 foot ADA approved rehearsal studio, gallery, and performance space in Metuchen, NJ. It houses mignolo dance and is available for rentals. With a wide open space, wall-to-wall mirrors, high ceilings, and a marley floor, it is an ideal place for professional dancers as well as theater companies, musicians, and visual artists.
