(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Middlesex County Plays-In-The-Park presents their annual production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at State Theatre New Jersey December 28-29, 2024. This beloved musical brings the Bible story of Joseph to life with unforgettable music, drama, and a touch of Elvis-inspired flair.

Follow Joseph’s journey as he rises from betrayal and imprisonment to become the Pharaoh’s trusted advisor, using his unique gift of dream interpretation to help save Egypt from famine. With its colorful costumes, spectacular performances, and show-stopping numbers, this is a theatrical experience you won’t want to miss!

Featuring Lyrics by Tim Rice and Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was nominated for ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score. Bring the entire family to witness this magnificent array of colors, music and pure theatrical magic!

Performances take place Saturday, December 28 at 2:00pm (American Sign Language Interpreters will be located House Right); Saturday, December 28 at 7:00pm; Sunday, December 29 at 2:00pm (Audio Description); and Sunday, December 29 at 7:00pm (Open Caption Monitors will be located House Left). This holiday season, Plays-in-the-Park is teaming up with Coming Home Middlesex again to collect warm coats and clothing for communities in need and you can help! Just bring a new or gently used coat, sweatshirt or other warm winter wear to any of the performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the State Theatre and place it in one of the collection bins. Your donations will be spread out amongst Coming Home Middlesex, Elijah’s Promise, and the Raritan Bay Area YMCA.

Today, State Theatre is the largest performing arts center in Central New Jersey and has welcomed more than six million people through its doors since reopening as a nonprofit performing arts center in 1988. State Theatre New Jersey is a cornerstone of the cultural vitality of Middlesex County and averages a total economic impact on New Brunswick and the surrounding area of more than $18 million a year. The mainstage programs have featured high-caliber artists such as Diana Ross, Tom Jones, Kevin Hart, Ringo Starr, Melissa Etheridge, John Leguizamo, Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. After major renovations, State Theatre New Jersey celebrated its 100th Anniversary in December 2021 in a fully renovated theater. Originally built as a silent film and vaudeville palace, State Theatre’s historic significance was honored by PBS by featuring it in its documentary series, Treasures of New Jersey, in the fall of 2018. “Treasures of New Jersey: State Theatre New Jersey” can be streamed online.
