It’s always great to see bands whose veteran members got their start in the analog age dominate in the digital age. One of them is The New Bardots, whose members have been playing music together in a variety of bands since the ‘70s. The best known of them was The Rockids, who shared bills with Blondie, Talking Heads and The Ramones at CBGB in New York City.
The New Bardots never-say-die attitude not only applies to their persistence but also their successful navigation of streaming platforms and social media with the help of label, Bongo Boy Records.
Having won a ton of awards for their previous video, their latest, “Thrill of the Night,” is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.
As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Thrill of the Night” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on April 21 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin or MixCloud.
“Thrill of the Night” is an anticipation of the band’s forthcoming third LP, which, like the other two, last year’s “Single Night,” and 2019’s “French Kisses,” was produced and mixed by guitarist Gar Grancis, lead vocalist Wayne Olivieri and bassist Dan Skye, who also recorded at his legendary Sky Lab Studios in Roosevelt.
The new video follows “Corporation Businesman,” which won 16 film festival awards. Both of the latest clips were directed by Wayne.
Rounding out the band are drummer Johnnie Rago and keyboardist John Croot Jr. For more about The New Bardots, visit www.thenewbardots.com.
