Trenton-based punk rockers Doc Rotten just released their latest LP, “Unite Resist,” via Working Class Productions.
The LP’s lead single, "Psych Ward 103,” is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.
As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Psych Ward 103” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on March 25 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com.
An edgy, unlikely love story set in rehab, the video for “Psych Ward 103” by D.I.Why? Films sheds some light on the mental health crisis in America.
Also available on vinyl, the politically-charged 16-track “Unite Resist” was produced by Bouncing Souls guitarist Pete Steinkopf at his Little Eden in Asbury Park and mastered by Sean Glonek (Juliana Hatfield, Tanya Donnelly) at his SRG Studios in Hamilton. An examination of society, politics, and oneself, the album also stands out with:
On behalf of drummer AJ Martinez, lead guitarist Andy Keris and bassist Doug Pombo, lead vocalist-rhythm guitarist Wes Bentley said, “‘Unite Resist’ is about being at the end of your rope … realizing your government doesn’t serve its citizens but serves special interests. These corporations are ruining society and creating poverty, and the only way to fix it is to unite together and let your voices be heard. Don’t comply, stop acquiescing, and simply say no in non-violent civil disobedience. It’s about mutual love and respect, yet remaining vigilant against injustices.”
Formed in Trenton during Winter 2017, Doc Rotten swiftly released three EPs, then toured the world including Japan, Europe, and Canada. After a record release party on March 26 at The Fire in Philly with OC Rippers, Diamond Dogz, and Side Pocket Louie, the band will hit the road again throughout April from Harrisburg, Pa. to the Southeast and Midwest. Doc Rotten also will play Riot Squad Media’s Camp Punksylvania, which will take place Sept. 9 to 11 at Circle Drive-In in Scranton, Pa., with Guttermouth, The Casualties, Get Dead, Meohiskapheles, Bar Stool Preachers, Backyard Superheroes, Working Class Stiffs, Sorry Mom and much more.
