Of the current crop of New Jersey songwriters, Dennis King, aka Son of Dov, is among the best, especially during collabs with excellent fellow tune smiths, such as Mint 400 label mate Renee Maskin.

Now he’s done the same with another strong songwriter, Melissa Anthony. Together, they make up the new duo Tiny Cities. “Hologram,” the opening track of their four-song debut EP, “The Wind Can Be So Cruel,” is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Hologram” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on Jan 17 on “Radio Jersey at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin and Mixcloud.

“Hologram” was written and recorded by Melissa, who sings lead and plays acoustic guitar, while Dennis sings background vocals and plays bass and piano. The haunting song began as a phone memo recording to which Dennis added his multi-talented touches.
