Makin Waves Song of the Week: "Dirty" by Never the Name

Never the Name is a local all-star super group with four of the most respected names in the New Jersey music scene.

They recently released their debut album, “Millennial Boomer Consumer,” along with the seven-song offering’s third and final single, “Dirty,” the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Dirty” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on June 13 on “Radio Jersey at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin and Mixcloud.

Featuring founding lead vocalist-bassist Will Blakey (Bryan Hansen Band, The Extensions, The Heard), drummer Joshua Van Ness (Bryan Hansen Band, Remember Jones, The Wag), Lisa LoVell (The Extensions) and  guitarist Tom Briant (The Heard, Taylor Tote), Never the Name channel Red Hot Chili Peppers on “Dirty” with slap bass and rapped lyrics. The song also features a shredding solo by Tom.

“The song is about the type of person that lies just for attention and treats you like you’re an idiot, thinking that they’ve fooled you into believing their lies,” Will said.

The music video for “Dirty” takes the band on an animated virtual reality adventure.

The album’s first two singles were “Quasimodo’s Love Note” and “Consequences.”

A follow-up LP already is in the works. In the meantime, a release party for “Millennial Boomer Consumer” will be announced soon.
