The latest single by the dt's, "Cherry," is a hook haven that proves the Central Jersey power-pop duo is getting better with age.

A video for this Makin Waves Song of the Week will be out soon, but in the meantime, you can stream the track.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Cherry” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on Sept. 13, on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin and Mixcloud.

The dt’s are a cross between the dreamy harmonies of The Everly Brothers and the ragged sheen of Cheap Trick.

“We are extremely excited to release this song and couldn’t be happier how it came out,” vocalists-guitarists David Cacciatore and Tom Losito said. “It’s actually been a staple in our live set for three years. We recorded the track at Sonoma Beach Studios in Clark with our good friend and producer Joey Papa. The track was cut live with our backing band: Frank Lettieri Jr. on drums and Rob Jennings on bass. We packed in as many hooks as we could in this one within a short, crisp power-pop frame. The main riff and lyrical idea originated from Tom a handful of years ago. The song is centered around living and letting go of trivial burdens. Dave added killer slide work and harmonies, which really rounded out the tune!"

The single follows a February live EP released within Asbury Park-based Lakehouse Recording Studios’ Lakehouse Live series, as well as a music video for the previous single, "All In My Head,” also a Makin Waves Song of the Week.

The dt’s are heading back into the studio soon to record more songs, which you may be able to hear live Sept. 16 at 95.9 The WRAT’s Ocean of Love Billboard Radiothon in Toms River; Sept. 19, Hilton at Short Hills; Sept. 21, Medford Oktoberfest; Sept. 28, Asbury Park Porchfest; Oct. 4, Lion’s Roar, Westfield; Oct. 5, Telegraph Hill Records’ Zeik Dental Jam, Red Bank; Oct. 13, Stafford Town Harvest Fall Fest, Manahawkin Lake Park, Manahawkin, and Nov. 9, International Pop Overthrow, Parkside Lounge, New York City.
