iPlay America Announces New Executive Chef at The Loaded Spoon

originally published: 11/30/2022

(FREEHOLD, NJ) -- iPlay America has announced the hiring of Executive Chef John Dougherty as part of its new dining experience, The Loaded Spoonset to open in early 2023. Chef John studied Culinary Arts at the prestigious Johnson & Whales University. Launching his career at Brickwall Tavern, he then spent 9 years at Brando’s Citi Cucina in Asbury Park and aided in the openings of several New Jersey restaurants. Having competed on Food Networks Chopped, Chef John is no stranger to challenges as he excitingly takes on cultivating the culinary vision at The Loaded Spoon

Chef John will oversee all culinary operations for The Loaded Spoon including catering private events, ala cart service, culinary team and working with the Front of House team to create a cohesive concept across the board. “From our first conversations, I knew that Chef John would be a great leader for this team. He is one of the most passionate individuals I have come across in this industry. His food is delicious, and his presentations are always well thought out,” says Director of Food and Beverage, Christopher DeLuca.

The Loaded Spoon’s original menu will feature phenomenal dishes handcrafted by our culinary team. Chef John describes his inspiration for the menu as paying respect to every piece of food that’s brought into the building. “It will be a unique experience on all fronts. From the amazing pastry program to the attention to detail on the floor, the elevated food and outstanding culinary team. I believe the intrigue lies in the dedication and genuine care about the craft,” said Chef John.

When it comes to cultivating the menu, it will be all about letting the ingredients take center stage in each dish. “When I was younger, I overthought and changed every dish, now I realize using quality products, enhancing with style and treating the dish with respect is the most important aspect to letting the ingredients shine,” said Chef John. Empathy, passion and commitment are what makes a restaurant flourish, and Chef John is ready to bring these qualities to the table to showcase the ultimate experience at The Loaded Spoon.

The Loaded Spoon is a new dining experience set to open early 2023 at 108 Schanck Rd in Freehold, New Jersey. Sign up to be first-to-know at loaded-spoon.com.
