(FREEHOLD, NJ) -- Play America announced the hiring of Pastry Chef Theresa Catalano as part of its new dining experience, The Loaded Spoon, set to open in early 2023. Bringing over 12 years of innovative experience, Catalano launched her career under renowned Master Pastry Chef Florian Bellanger and Pastry Chef Ron Ben Israel. She has worked as the Pastry Chef at il Nido in Marlboro, NJ, and Head Pastry Chef at Eataly NYC managing pastry retail and all baked goods for catering Eataly’s two iconic restaurants, La Pizza & La Pasta and Firenze Ristorante.
Catalano will create all the indulgent desserts for The Loaded Spoon while implementing the daily production standards for years to come. “The pastry program is a significant part of The Loaded Spoon’s concept. Theresa’s passion, creativity and imagination are reflective of her delectable, tasteful and eye-catching desserts. Her addition will absolutely create an unforgettable experience for our guests” says Director of Food and Beverage, Christopher DeLuca.
The Loaded Spoon’s original menu will feature decadent desserts that are as visually alluring as they are delicious. Catalano describes her inspiration as bringing the upscale dining experience you find in New York City to Central Jersey. “I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to develop this over-the-top menu with my own two hands. The Loaded Spoon will truly be a phenomenal experience and a show that guests will fall in love with,” said Catalano.
“I’m most excited to bring a dessert named The Big Mahalo to the table. This dessert will encompass a warm custard-soaked bread featuring Kings Hawaiian Rainbow Loaf, mixed with toffee sauce, pistachios and topped with homemade coconut ice cream” stated Catalano. She is looking forward to showing guests the process of just how she puts together her creations from the open pastry kitchen which will be visible from the exclusive captain’s tables. Other featured menu items include the Space Cadet and Unicornation Milkshakes, along with the MegaSundae.
