(NEWARK, NJ) -- Invest Newark, the City of Newark’s Economic Development Corporation, announced that it has named Jeet Gulati as Invest Newark General Counsel and Aaron Meyerson as the Chief Innovation Economy Officer and Director of Broadband for the City of Newark. The new appointments will improve internal processes, enhance efficiency and further support the organization’s innovative programming and operations.
“As we grow our reach as an organization, we are building our leadership team with top experts that will continue to strengthen our services to and relationship with Newark communities,” said Marcus Randolph, President and CEO of Invest Newark. “Jeet and Aaron’s experiences throughout their respective careers make them incredible assets to our work, and we’re excited for their effort and expertise.”
Jeet Gulati joined Invest Newark as its General Counsel in October 2022. Prior to his position at Invest Newark, Jeet represented financial institutions as well as for-profit and nonprofit real estate developer-owners finance public-private partnerships and with administrative agency-facing transactions as an attorney with Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf, LLP.

Before joining Windels Marx in 2019, Jeet was a Deputy Attorney General in the New Jersey Division of Law, where he focused on real estate and public finance transactions. Before the Division of Law, Jeet was an Assistant General Counsel at the New York City Housing Development Corporation (NYCHDC) where he represented the agency in financing the new construction or preservation of over 2,000 units of affordable housing in New York City. Jeet began his career as a Housing Fellow at NYCHDC and its sister agency, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
Aaron Meyerson is the Chief Innovation Economy Officer and Director of Broadband for the City of Newark. He will be supporting the Newark Fiber initiative to bring broadband to all Newark residents, along with attracting, retaining, and expanding high-growth businesses in Newark.
“All aspects of society nowadays are reliant on technology. The pandemic made it starkly clear that access to education, healthcare and the modern economy, have been substantively tied to internet access,” said Aaron Meyerson. “I am passionate about enabling expanded broadband to residents of Newark regardless of socioeconomic status and am excited to be joining Invest Newark to make real strides to address the digital divide across the city.”
Prior to joining Invest Newark, Aaron served as the Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Broadband for the City of New York. He led the implementation of New York City’s Internet Master Plan, a program to build publicly owned, privately run broadband, increase competition, and leverage City real estate to bridge the digital divide. Aaron also managed New York City’s digital equity and inclusion work along with the City’s broadband data analysis and mapping team. Previously, Meyerson served as founding employee and Senior Director of Operations for WiredScore, a venture backed global broadband and real estate technology company. He led WiredScore’s expansion from NYC to the entire United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Prior to WiredScore, Aaron served as Assistant Vice President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Strategic Planning team, leading broadband, resiliency, and economic development initiatives, including serving on Mayor Bloomberg’s Special Initiative for Resiliency and Rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy. Aaron holds a Master in Urban Planning from New York University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Syracuse University.
