(NEWARK, NJ) -- Don't miss out on the upcoming Horizon Sounds of the City FREE performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), featuring Kofi Kinaata, a Ghanaian singer-songwriter and rapper. The concert will take place at Chambers Plaza on the NJPAC Campus on Thursday, July 18, 2024, starting at 5:00pm.
Kofi Kinaata is known for his unique Fante rap style, blending highlife, hiplife, and rap. His music is characterized by mellow rhythms, catchy melodies, and meaningful lyrics. Kinaata has received numerous accolades, including the Songwriter of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2016 and 2020.
Apart from his musical achievements, Kofi Kinaata is also involved in philanthropy and has initiated charitable projects in Takoradi. The event series aims to bring together Newark's diverse community for enjoyable evenings filled with music, food, and fun. The weekly events will run from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursdays, starting with an annual celebratory dance party.
Other upcoming FREE Concerts New Orleans funk band Galactic f. Jelly Joseph (July 25), rap icon KRS-One (August1), and New Orleans bounce singer Big Freedia (August 8). Some performances will also showcase a guest poet from Dodge Poetry, as well as local opening talent and NJPAC’s student performers. This event is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly anticipated summer events in the area.
